Geez boys, getting a bit tense in here!!
Lets all just agree to disagree! I personally dont have a huge issue with St Albans or City, but im getting over readin 49 pages of this shit about them!!

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Spoke with loads of cricketers at the footy yesterday:
Heres what i heard:

NORTH GEELONG:
Picked up Millard and a quicky from the bush

JOEYS:
Lost Foster, Ford, Dan Lowerey (all retired). P Lowerey is at Geelong, Loftus to West (apparently joeys are not happy about this)
Picked up fanning and morgoan and a Pommie

CITY:
Have got loads of recruits and are very confident

SOUTH BARWON:
Babbs has signed. Moore from joeys will sign as Breuer has said he cant keep for another year

WEST:
Chapple will be the signing of the year.
Loftus is a handy recruit as well!!!!

LARA:
Bambury has apparently left
Hughes will miss a few games for his job as a copper

GROVIE:
Tsistas is still a tosser

thats because you cant attract anyone else coz your all tosses!!!
i've just made you the scorer of the "team of good blokes" congrats i recken u'll fit right in

cant attract players. scott lindsays not a bad pickup.
you guys have to pay blokes to come to a club like yours. we only pay the coach and we are a strong div 1 club. players stay cos its a real club with real club people not payed ring ins like st albans. and the rest of your team are players that there previous club didnt want, addy, bennett, featherstone etc

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

I'm sick of where this forum is headed. Who votes we set up a new Geelong cricket thread and just re-name this one St Albans V City mud-slinging match, I mean fair dinkum....?

Honestly, who cares who's paid and who's not? GCA can't police it; just like the GFL couldn't. Pay what you can afford and then everyone get over it for pete's sake. If St Albans want to pay to help create a strong base for tilt at the GCA, then good luck to them. I seriously couldn't see last year's Div 2 Cricketer of the Year in Lucas Benci heading to a BPCA hard wicket club because he loves the place but hey; who cares?! And guess what; there are tossers at every club; even mine and where do blokes come across as tossers? On the field when they are fighting to win a match. Gents, get over the fact that all clubs pay blokes and get over the fact every club has knobs. You St Albans blokes, get your skin a bit thicker on payments; nothing wrong with it if your club infrastructure can sustain it and; you City blokes just press on, knobs are part of the scenery everywhere and start setting about improving your club. Agg being GCA President has nothing to do with what happens to City on a league scale; the comp is run by a 10 or 12 man board and he is only the head bloke with a casting vote remember not an ordinary vote.

Guy Torquay had 2 years back is coming back apparently.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

I think the Bambury news in regards to him leaving Lara may be wrong, from our discusions here he is staying at Lara. Also apart from missing the first three games Danny Hughes will probably play the majority of the season. The news at Leopold is Skrobalak is coming across from Torquay and ex Newtown premiership player Harvey Stephenson is playing. I think City may be getting some players from the Geelong lower grades, but has anyone got any names here ? Torquay is bringing back the Pommie Andrew Bourke to come and coach the club over the next few years. He was the one that made 200 (I think) against Thomson a few years ago. Sean Bogan is apparently moving across to East but he changes his mind like the win. Moore will take the gloves off Breuer at South, with Babbs moving from Newcomb to play with his mate Anderton. I think Scown is looking elsewhere but not sure where at this stage. North may have picked up Millard and some un-named quick but believe they have lost Country Week player Mitch Troy and Ash McClean to their former club North Shore and maybe a few others. Sean Arnott is leaving Lara and taking a coaching role at Corio.

Thomson are getting a young fella by the name of James McCoy.
Comes from the same region as our previous overseas players.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Have heard Steve Illingworth is captaining St Peters and pommy Steve Douglas is coaching. He is currently in the UK playing and may be bringing back one or two with him.

Andrew Fergusson is playing at Corio. Waurn Ponds are only losing Mike Chapman but Tim Hilditch may also be leaving.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

It's Lucas Benci here. Very interesting to see I'm playing at St Albans this year... I can see the connection but, no.

Cheers.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

I hear that St Albans Breakwater are on the lookout for two class bats for this coming season. I also hear Jock Irvine has taken over the role of President and is well underway to have the Sainters playing on the grass.

My sources tell me that Lucas texted his interest to the now named St Albans Breakwater coach some weeks ago
