Hey boys just found this website. The fact of the matter is I know for a fact that ferg and caulfield got paid 8k each at modda and know first hand that they both will not be there this year. Ferg to corio and caulfield is going to play with his mate Damain Shanahan at Geelong. ( fact ) Mitch troy left North Geelong because one of the guys down there punched him at the presentation night.

I think his name was Sean " angryman " Mcgrath. Crazy!!

Ferg is getting 11k at corio and that is out of there mouth. And do you people even know these people I'm sure they would like to see what some of you losers are writing.

(3.53am) had a couple have ya knackers?

good to see you've joined us losers.
mitch troy was leaving north geelong this season and this was basically common knowledge in November last year, the beating up was just a bonus.

is the 11k part of his footy contract aswell?

It shoud be little surprise that Fergie has bobbed up somewhere else. Regardless of the fact that he is mates with O'Toole. What is it; 6 cricket and footy clubs in the past 6 years? Don't know how blokes can do that; re: Murray, Roache, et al.

well the money they are paying its basically a job... so if your getting offered more money to do the same job, would u leave your job?hmmm i ask not to be rude but put yourself in there situation.

if people are going to offer it, why not take it?

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Im not sure about shopping around to clubs each year if your good enough. Most of the blokes on here who grizzle about blokes getting paid proabably arent good enough themselves to get paid thus why they can say "why". if you are a put in a situation and you are offered 5 or 10 gorillas to play cricket id suggest most of us would go and at the least think very seriously..

i'd play for $$$ not gorilla's though.
unless of course that is some foreign currency i have never heard of.
i know they sell stuff for camels in egypt, maybe gorrilas in malaysia
:D

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

but yes in seriousness if people offer coin people will take it.
i think alot of the time it is the club who approaches the player with the figure then they go from there.
not many players shop themselves around

Far too many people worrying about guys playing for cash - well get over it and when you play them knock them over cheaply or smash them around the park and just laugh at their club for paying them. The clubs make the silly mistake of chucking out cheap money and in a few years wonder why they have very little money or players in their club.
I love watching those clubs distruct - boom.......

Every club pays someone, its just the times we are in. Whether its footy or cricket. There aint too many flags won on homegrown talent these days if any.

Clearing pickets - you seem to be so wise in your comments - a man that knows alot about the cricket whores floating around. where do you get your wisdom from? anyway you are correct, the clubs offer the money and then the player accepts - part of life - money talks
Who do you play for? or will you keep that quiet as you are one of the cricket whores we talk about??????

also, i think south has signed a young quick, Campbell from teesdale???? any word on that??? also i hear lymer leaving bph 2 go 2 shelford???

I have heard the same thing about Campbell to South Barwon. Intersting signing. Does anybody know anything about him. Would he be up to divi 1 cricket?

Might be handy with Ando and Brad bowling around him. Big step up for the kid though from Teesdale.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

I reckon someone at the Corio Sporting Club must be on the ball. If they have got Fergy, it is a great pick up, but even greater because if he is playing footy for the Devils then they can actually pay him his footy payments at a level way above his footy exploits and say this is for him to play cricket there also. There is no salary cap at football clubs so they would have no issue there. Sounds a good plan. Luckily most cricket and footy clubs which share the same ground hate each other and would not do this, but on the other hand, there are not many cricketers that are any decent at footy anyway. It is normally one or the other !!

Good call, but everyone is hiding behind an alias.

If you know Ferg, you would know that he is like that. He is going to play for the highest bidder, and he is cocky enough to ask for more if they dont offer him enough.

I got along with him pretty well, good on him if there stupid enough to pay him the crazey amounts.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Salary caps mean nothing now. Everybody seems to be able to get around them, and how can it get policed anyway. Get rid of them.

I think that the better option for Salary caps would be a points system.
You get say 50 points for your 1st XI.

A player that has played juniors at your club costs 1 point.
A player that has played at other clubs and it is his first year is worth 10 points
A player that has played at other clubs and this is his second year is worth 8 points.

It would mean that a player is worth more $$ the longer he stays at a club.
It rewards the clubs that have successful junior programs and hopefully encourages clubs to develop their own.

I think there should also be a rebate system if you have supplied players at VCA level.
If the player is currently playing VCA 1's you get 10 points for him. If he is playing 2's you say 7.

I have never played for cash, and pay my membership and game day fees every year without fail. I could never take a cent from my club because I feel they owe me nothing, and I still owe so much.
But if I ever had to leave that club, for work say, then yes I would look at getting paid. I would not be chasing the highest bidder every year, but hopefully find a club where I am as happy as I currently am.

Well done your loyal. Look through sport cricket, football, soccer, any sport you pay peanuts you get monkeys simple as that. The junior thing just doesnt cut it anymore, how many superstar juniors does each club have playing 1's cricket maybe 1 or 2 in each 1st eleven team, most of the guns of GCA are 30 something and have been to more than 1 club. As much as we want the kids to come through there just too many toher things for them to do...

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

The Ferg Hey - would sell his family for a bit of cash - ha ha just playing.

Well he aint the only one and we all know who they are - they generally finish with about 300 runs for the season, and a measily 15 wickets - and get paid a fortune for it - have a good look at your selves clubs?

who ever said that Feg and the brains trust was paid $8000 for the year - either good mail or miles off the pace - either way dumb dumb dumb Modda - maybe you should handball your footy club some of that cash - boo hiss to them......
