not sure of his name but a left hand seamer from Highton, only 17 i think.
thought he was the pick of the bowlers when we played them.
weird last name, moved it around a bit.

Jack Rodgers and Adam Bliss from the TCC to hopefully improve further on last season, both spent periods in the 1st XI last year and should be better for the experience. We played 11 players in the 1st XI last season who were under the age of 21.
no doubt about it thomson can only go forward from here on...
if i memba rightly.. youse had an injury or 2 in that semi final last year... and were stiff not to beat guild

I think that kid from Highton's name is Traczyk? Would that be right? Anyway, I think there is a real surge in young kids in Div 2 at present which is very healthy. Div 2 will gain a lot more respect this season for its competitiveness and good on the GCA for finally getting it right. All of a sudden, there will be a handful of clubs competing in Div 2 who could play in Div 1 rather than 1 or 2. And...dare I say, a couple in Div 1 that could be in Div 2. From the ones that I have seen, keep an eye on Chris Strods (AT), Aaron Carter (Bell Park), Michael Condy (MH), Jake Dubbledam (Marshall), Scott Harvey (St Peters), Jaryd DeBeer (St Peters) and the 2 or 3 already mentioned from Thomson. Exciting times and with the surge in Div 2, good young kids will decide to stay with their home clubs and Country Week and Barwon Zone selectors will look beyond Div 1.

Guild definitely outplayed us in the Semi-Final, credit to them.
We had our 2/3 of our best bowlers in K.Petterwood and J.Bosworth out injured but the replacements did a very good job, was Hinkleys first game in the 1sts and stood up, we were just generally outplayed over the weekend, but we have moved on and made the required signings to hopefully push further into the finals this season :)

Danny Skene, Matt Kennedy, Troy Oakley & Matt Karafilis. All just honest and sharpish without having blistering pace. Karafilis actually won 2nd bowling average by an absolute street. Think he took something like 30-something wickets for about 4.00 but didn't bowl enough overs would you believe thus didn't win award?!

What about BPCA? who are the young guns to watch for? say below 20....and any suggestions on...

that could be your problem, kim petterwood being your top bowler. need to recruit bowlers. not poms that come over and make 250 for the year.

turned 21 just after the cricket grand final weekend.
not sure on his cricketing background, he managers the Sir Charles Darling, our major sponsor at Thomson and has come down and started to play with us as of after the spring carnival last season, bowls with a really heavy ball.
will be one to watch this year with a pre-season under his belt i would say, top fella with loads of potential.

Troy Oakley used to play 2nds at another club.. cant remember which one..
but... played a game in the 1's against lara 1 day and was found out as an average bowler..
wouldnt say he was all that consistent either

it's been a while since you played there mate, each to their own opinion but i think you'll find if you have a read of the stats Kim was our most economical seam bowler and single handedly won us 2 games of his own bat at number 11. kettle posted 350 runs last season, davies the year before that was a shortened season, not sure of his stats, leech woulda been the one ur talking about, had a bad year at Thomson in Oz, did play a season of First grade in Sydney and holds Minor-County records for Cheshire, his the pick of those 3.
Bolger was a last minute choice, and Albert is all class.

as for recruiting bowlers, i disagree, rarely did we struggle to bowl teams out last season. got some youngsters coming thru aswell who will push for 1st XI this year. hopefully with our experience players staying fit and healthy we should have a formiddable attack.

for starters, seen them all bat. no good. who cares what leech has done in sydney and cheshire, couldnt perform in gca. kettle posted 350, but how many tons and when you needed him, where was he? Bolger... JOKE, and davies cant remember to much about but thomson got relegated.

if you want to win a grand final, you will need bowlers. cant keep saying if bosworth and petterwood are fit, theyre never fit.
obviously smelly is goin to bowl a bit, and salts bowls himself all day. that wont be your answer.

i said leech struggled in GCA and that bolger was a last minute thing.
as for kettle standing up when we needed him, got 2 70odds and an 80not out and he was run out, courtesy of a bad decision in the Semi. scored the second most runs for us last season behind salts and we were very happy with his keeping.
Petterwood was fit all year when playing until a freak knee injury at training.
we know where were at wit Bosworth, only played a few games last season and when he played he was a handful for the batsmen in division2.
