Would be fair to say that marshall blokes thinking that someone is the next Shane Warne isnt the most reliable source of imformation.
A few overs in the nets facing Jay Addy and theyd probably be saying the same thing.@|
Get my point??!!:

even though he bowls offies?

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Kal Dubbledam is the leg-spinner, spins it a mile but bowls hand-grenades because he's about 5 foot. Jake bowls medium-swingers, the two of them destroyed my under 15's team last season.

I think that kid from Highton's name is Traczyk? Would that be right? Anyway, I think there is a real surge in young kids in Div 2 at present which is very healthy. Div 2 will gain a lot more respect this season for its competitiveness and good on the GCA for finally getting it right. All of a sudden, there will be a handful of clubs competing in Div 2 who could play in Div 1 rather than 1 or 2. And...dare I say, a couple in Div 1 that could be in Div 2. From the ones that I have seen, keep an eye on Chris Strods (AT), Aaron Carter (Bell Park), Michael Condy (MH), Jake Dubbledam (Marshall), Scott Harvey (St Peters), Jaryd DeBeer (St Peters) and the 2 or 3 already mentioned from Thomson. Exciting times and with the surge in Div 2, good young kids will decide to stay with their home clubs and Country Week and Barwon Zone selectors will look beyond Div 1.

Ash Carter not Aaron

Here's an interesting question; How come Thomson CC wear Green & Gold but Thomson FC wear Purple & Gold?

All are different clubs in their own right, started at different times, different committees, coaches, players etc etc and also if Thomson FC were Green and Gold they would have clash problems with Centrals wouldn't they??

ideally it would probably good for some clubs to merge together as one- may not happen though as financially there would be problems ie. Cricket clubs don't turnover nearly as much as what a footy club would.

have to say Divvy two looks like being a top comp this year, very competitive with at least 6 sides looking pretty strong. Divvy one still looks a bit stale and boring with the same old clubs looking to be there abouts again. interesting to see how it pans out.

However South Barwon and Newtown have 0 affiliation between cricket and football teams. they just share a common name. They are located in different areas, run by different people and basically have no common thread.
Newtown becomes Ammos don't they?

i think div1 there is more than a couple of sides that will be a threat

any of these sides could win it from what we've heard

geelong west
south barwon
grovedale
leopold
east belmont
st joeys
lara

would hardly call that stale and boring!

I would tend to agree with u on that, however i see what gca is saying about its mostly the same sides at the top every year - Ie east, joeys, grovey.
But im with you in that it should be a pretty exciting, open season - esp west...who on paper look as strong as anyone.

pretty sure its bigcricket.com mate.

if you have anything to do with the running of a club you'd understand that clubs have functions to make money and survive.

id say this has something to do with cricket.

i like alot of people go to other clubs draws maybe 6 or 7 a year and other people come to ours its how local cricket is and should be, im sure other clubs will be putting there major draws on here so people know, and then sell more tickets, and then make more money.

simple i would of thought!@|

Geelong West no affiliation with football club either. A lot more St Peters people and influence at GWSP FC.

This would be true if i actually trained in the swans nets!

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

I hear Ashley carter is playing at Joeys this year. He went to school there so he would have mates there. We start training this weekend. Morgo is keen! Will be interesting to see how many we get there.
