Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

not sure what the latest is with the GCA and a T20 comp. There is plenty of interest around for one. We would be very keen on having a comp running at some point during the season. We might have to start up a Big Cricket T20 Comp !!

Bringbackwarney, I notice a lot of comments on here from you - I don't know how you find the time to do this. I mean, you must have a lot of mates who want to catch up with you I would be guessing. Judging by the comments, they would falling over each other just to spend some time with you. There would be blokes like Bambury, Hughes, Kelson, Watts, Nelson all dying to spend some quality time with a ******** like you. A lot of comments, but no substance. Probably just explained you as a bloke that.|@

craping my pants

Not sure if that didn't come out right or you took me out of context but to answer the question; NO I don't go alright; least not anymore anyway.

Thats because there all good players and every club wants them, its usually the clubs that miss out on these players that start rumors and bag them.

im sure even east belmont and grovedale wouldn't knock back a murray or a smiljanic or a fergusson.

Oh, ok, I undertsnad now; because these blokes are good players, they get phone calls every season to change clubs and so that's what they do. Come on BourneyWarney. Don't see Brad Hauenstein, Danny Hughes, Brad Stacey, etc going through clubs like jocks. Maybe money means more to some people than club loyalty and sticking with your mates. Maybe some people play cricket merely for a means of income rather than actually really enjoying it.

I think BringBacKWarney is a bit of a troublemaker and is trying to stir things up a bit. Anderton has been at South Barwon for a couple of seasons now and him and the club could not be happier. He might get fired up a bit on the field sometimes but if your fast bowler did not have some agression then you may as well be playing lawn bowls. At least he comes out and says who he is on this forum, if he did not love his cricket (and he does love it) he would not even bother reading this sh%t. Some others hide behind a name, I should know Brett anyway as I am his current President at South Barwon.

you think?

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Can somebody please inform me if;
A. Anthony Armstead is playing this year?
B. Is PUMPA playing seconds at north geelong with his great offies?
Cheers

I hear Ashley carter is playing at Joeys this year. He went to school there so he would have mates there. We start training this weekend. Morgo is keen! Will be interesting to see how many we get there.

He's cousin is Moorey, who's moved to Sth Barwon, so I doubt he would go to Joey's now.

Brett left Thomson on his own accord and wasn't thrown out of the club.

Still plays footy at Thomson and as far as we as a cricket club are concerned on a whole he is welcome for a beer whenever he feels that and he knows that.

as for Smiljanic... Freddie1 stop speaking rubbish mate, he's a Thomson player. you to bringbackwarney, you've got a problem with the TCC we all know it, grow up mate.
we've been through this, go back 100 pages and read on.
just post things on stuff you know about.

can you confirm the Nolan to Geelong rumour?seeing your St Joeys CC freddie1 surely you should know this one!

i dont really care mate, i was just fishing for a bite!

We are all dying to know who you are and/or who you play for Renny

I wouldn't have thought so.

I have basically been retired for a couple of years and cast an eye over the whole of the GCA with particular attention to Div 2.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

with the Divisions being uneven draws and you don't play each side the same number of times who has been the winners and loosers, from a quick run down of division one, here are who plays teams twice:
  • Newtown - Lara, East Belmont
  • Lara - Newtown, Geelong West
  • Leopold - East Belmont, Bell Post Hill
  • East Belmont - Leopold, Newtown
  • Newcomb - Bell Post Hill, South Barwon
  • Bell Post Hill - Newcomb, Leopold
  • North Geelong - South Barwon, St Joseph's
  • South Barwon - North Geelong, Newcomb
  • City - St Josephs, Grovedale
  • St Josephs - City, North Geelong
  • Geelong West - Grovedale, Lara
  • Grovedale - Geelong West, City

So the hardest draw for Div 1, you would think would be either Newtown, North Geelong, City, Geelong West. This is being based on club championships from last seasons. Who does Div 2 stack up ?

OK maybe just me then. Your opinions seem far too rational for this forum

no word on t20 in the gca draws?

Let's just see if the GCA can get one competition right, without another comp to look after. Once again another uneven draw where luck may play apart in who plays finals. Mr Dempsey used to do the draw, looks like he's done Div 1 by himself

is that a bad example. Some players play at a club for nothing and are loyal people then get offered money else where, does that make them whores. In your example your getting paid already and its a personally decision to move just for the money. I would have thought enjoyment, friendships and opportunity to develope as a worker/cricketer would be things people should consider where they work/play

thats crap if im working a job and got offered 15k more to move, im there thats why you work to earn money not to make friends!

maybe the blokes that change clubs all the time, for so called more money are doing it because they need the money to help support there families and make life that little bit easier.

what a difference a few years make, put that draw out a few years ago and you would be saying South Barwon have got one of the toughest draws. The draw would have been totally random, drawn out of a hat. Normally it's done in front of the clubs but due to the extra time taken in regards to Manifold issue it must have been done at a GCA management meeting. clubs knew it was going to be uneven because they did not want to play 11 two days games for the year. AFL is uneven, GFL is too (I think) so as long as we have cricket for the full 6 months everything will sort itself out.
