Spinners (or slow bowlers)
Tsitas

Talarico

Fanning (does he still bowl spin)

Who would take bags. Who features in the league wickets.. Only Tsitas and Talarico I think.

You have left out the GREAT Ricky Humphrey. Easily the best spinner in the league!!!
Fanning will be a star i reckon.
He trained with us a few times last season and turns then square. He has a beauty of a wrong-un to. I think he will get a few bags and should clean up a few tails as well.

Ricky Humphrey is one the best person going around in local sports and a fantastic guy as well.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

think that you have thomson at least three spots to low, they are building on a good div 2 side from last year. strods won't be as good with the bat as kettle but smelly will tear at least 4 attacks apart, if the ball comes on at thommy. also worth noting that GILL will take 30 plus wickets for them good young spinner!!!

James McCoy is our overseas player for this coming season.
He plays in the Cheshire County League for Widnes CC.
Has played for Cheshire in the England Minor County league this year.
20 year old Right Handed Bat top order bat, who from all reports hits it quite hard.

Luke Mitchell to stay at Geelong.

Having a look at recent posts on GCA2 recruits and whatever else here's my top 6 and the rest

St Peters
Manifold Heights
Waurn Ponds
Highton
Corio
Torquay

north shore
Thomson
Murghebuloc
Alexander Thomson
Bell Park
Marshall

Any thoughts on this? feel free to have a go if you think i'm wrong somewhere

very interesting BBW. i have a few queeries myself about this. just some observations that's all :D not having a go at you, just some questions i'd like answered in relation to ladder positioning.

1. You tipped North Shore to finish 7th, just outside the finals, above Thomson, Murghebuloc and Alexander Thomson. Is this on the basis of the appointment of Mitch Troy as coach?with the possibility of some North players, they did finish well down the ladder last season.
2. With the prospect of Fergie staying at Modda and Rick O'Toole not playing much due to work commitments will Corio drop down on your "prospective ladder" or do they have the depth to cover?
3. Interested as to why you have someone like Alexander Thomson so low considering they have both Cox and Benci still in there squad, both of whom won league awards last season.
4. Also a little dissapointed you have Thomson so low on your ladder considering we beat Corio quite convincingly last season in the Quarter Finals, and Highton in the latter stages of the year.
5. Have St Peters recruited anyone of note because they didn't make it past the Semi's last season and Charlie Lamb is a year older who also suffered achilles injuries at times last season.

Not having a dig at you at all, just would like to know your reasoning behind some of your selections, cheers :)

i still think a div1 rabble will be ok in div2.

salts is a quality div2 bat, o'neill wouldn't average above 20, never seen him make a run, very suprising to me that they made him a co-coach
not sure who else they have that bats, alot of kids that aren't quite up to it yet.

but smiljanic will win them 1 or 2 games off his own bat, just hope they don't expect massive quick hundreds every week from him.

Dear Mr Bringbackwarney,

Well it doesn't bother me about your opinions, after all no-one really knows who your are but your entitled to an opinion. All i need to say is the TCC committee are very happy with myself and salts as we have been re-appointed to coach together again this coming season :D i have had one season as a head coach and we made the semi-finals.

I have only played 2 full seasons of cricket since juniors, i missed the 06/07 season due to a broken foot. I've been a regular in the 1sts at Thomson since i was 13 but the first 3-4 years i was batting 10-11 everyweek, i used to bowl some handy leggies. Since i have progressed from u17s to playing just senior cricket i have developed my batting and am now in the top 6.

Technically i wouldn't average above 20, i doubt many people my age who have played as much 1st XI cricket as me would to be honest, but in the 2 full years i have been in the top half of the batting order my average would be somewhere in the 25.00 region. I made around 350 runs last season as a 19 year old.

As for never seeing me score a run. You should come to some more Thomson games, for someone who follows the local cricket so dilligently i thought you might have been at either of our finals last season, i did manage to prod around a couple of 40s.

Feel free to let me know if you plan on coming to watch us, then again if you did happen to venture down to Godfrey St this summer to watch us play i wouldn't know if you were there as no-one know's who you are.

Yeah about 5 years ago at Grovey he spun one past Baker...it must hit a stone because the next 2 balls disappeared over those rooftops.

Is Lucas Cameron staying on at Highton?

BBW has this pretty close except the following:
-Corio won't make Top 6: They had an over-achieving year last season and have no depth at all.
-Waurn Ponds will just hang on: Had a great season but have lost Mike Chapman and Tim Hilditch. Both great Div 2 bats who won't be replaced.
-Torquay will just make it: Just because they were Div 1 last season and very ordinary at that doesn't mean they automatically become a good div 2 side; the comp is better than that.
-North Shore will not finish 4 or 5 spots higher just because Troy & McLean are there. They will be bottom three.
-AT will tread water and finish around the same as they were last year.
-St Peters will make finals but maybe 4th or 5th. Think I may have said earlier that Charlie Lamb had retired but they have very good depth in the fast bowling dept, so should have that covered.

My top 6: Thomson, Highton, Manifold, St Peters, Torquay, Waurn Ponds.

Torquay top 4
Thomson the team to beat
