I am hearing the GCA are still discussing staging a 20/20 comp this year of some sort. I suppose we will just have to wait and see. As we all know, the GCA are never in a hurry to make a positive decision.

GCA meeting tonight. Lets hope they can decide on something. Platypus or Kookaburra Balls on the agenda aswell I believe

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Anyone know who sharkbite is?
I cant imagine he would to popular with the Agg's and Elliott's!!

What about a 6 aside comp on a Sunday as well as a 20/20.
All the blokes who have played in England said they are fantastic fun

6-a-side as in a bowler, keeper and four fielders? Grounds in Geelong are probably too big for that, unless we play every game on Joeys or something!

sharkbite is one of the greatest tools ever|@ but he does bring a bit of spice to a otherwise dull forum

They are a much better ball aren't they. May cost a little bit more but would be worth it.

Think cost is the issue, the GCA get a pretty good deal going with Platypus.
Having said that i think most of the players would prefer to use the Kookaburra, so maybe they will spend a little more $.

I heard from a "reliable" source this morning that someone from City discovered who Sharkbite is, told the rest of the club, and Sharkbite has now gone into hiding (with his computer) and does not dare show his face, and therefore will not be playing this year :D

leave sharkbite alone. At least he says it how it is...and can play the game mind you.

Having played a lot of cricket with Kookaburra balls, there is no doubt they are well and truly worth the extra $. They will improve the standard of cricket by allowing those bowlers to have the ability to use it, an opportunity to be more competitive on flat tracks. The balls last longer, stay harder longer, maintain their shine longer and move in the air more. If the gca is serious about cricket, they need to make the change. Interesting why they use kooka's in country week not platypus.

It will also help the batsmen with the ball staying harder for longer it will come of the bat alot better, as apposed to overs 50 + where it is like playing with a tennis ball!

Is that why I find it so hard to bat later on in the day ?? :)

That could be technique related ;-]

Now Mr IPL straight from the league meeting.
Any news that would interest us?

Mate, why are you even on here. You have done nothing but sit back and tear shreds off everyone and haven't even posted any cricket news or stuff yourself. Do us a favour and exit stage left. Thanks.

I think the meeting, well I hope the meeting was a GCA management member only meeting, otherwise South Barwon will have lost 1 assessment point !!

Once again, I thought this forum was about cricket!!!!!!

I think my Jan Nowicki Platypus reference has been taken out of context!
Still the debates rage on.

6-a-side is a nightmare to field in, definitely a batters game freddie, it is however a great competition to play in and think it's a good idea, the more cricket the better!

There are indeed a lot of RISSOLES on here who want to slag off people without themselves bringing anything constructive to the forum, aka internet toughies ;)

He can play 'the game' can he? It depends on what 'game' you are referring to.
If you are referring to making stupid comments, being a d!ckhead, having the personality of a collingwood cheer squad member, annoying everyone else on the forum, having no idea on cricket issues and generally being an idiot, then yes, he can play 'the game'. But if you are referring to his ability to play 'the game' of cricket, then I must question you reasons behind your statement as, quite frankly, I have not seen a comment which 'backs up' your post. Please clarify your reasons.

Does GCC101 represent some sort of code. If so, then maybe this is how I would interpret your forum name:
GCC = Geelong City C_ _ _ (rhymes with runt)
101 = Amount of 'tosses' you have had in the last month whilst reading this forum.

Have a nice day:)

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

GCC101 and Sharkbite on their last date.

Yes fair point about ladder positions from the previous year :)
Umpiring ourselves was just said as an idea to:

a) make it easier to organise
eg: won't have to tell them when they are required mid-week

b) cost effective
eg: won't have to pay subs to play as we won't be paying umpires

but yes i understand your points :)

UMPIRING OURSELVES??

Yeh cant wait to play east belmont with them umpiring themselves... Its pretty disgraceful the stuff that goes on with some teams in lower grades-- imagine when they have a shed load to play for in the final game of the 1's season!

Jarvis is City through and through. I find this very hard to believe. Almost impossible. But stranger things have happened.

Would have thought the Skenes and D Port were City through and through at one stage also...
