UMPIRING OURSELVES??

Yeh cant wait to play east belmont with them umpiring themselves... Its pretty disgraceful the stuff that goes on with some teams in lower grades-- imagine when they have a shed load to play for in the final game of the 1's season!

Umpiring ourselves was in reference to the early rounds of a proposed 20/20 knockout, not the season proper!

He can play 'the game' can he? It depends on what 'game' you are referring to.
If you are referring to making stupid comments, being a d!ckhead, having the personality of a collingwood cheer squad member, annoying everyone else on the forum, having no idea on cricket issues and generally being an idiot, then yes, he can play 'the game'. But if you are referring to his ability to play 'the game' of cricket, then I must question you reasons behind your statement as, quite frankly, I have not seen a comment which 'backs up' your post. Please clarify your reasons.

Does GCC101 represent some sort of code. If so, then maybe this is how I would interpret your forum name:
GCC = Geelong City C_ _ _ (rhymes with runt)
101 = Amount of 'tosses' you have had in the last month whilst reading this forum.

Have a nice day:)

Simply divine knowa. Well Played sir.

amen to that boogs. if the memory is correct he bolwed d.koliba into form one day at newcomb with a 150 i think. in rissoles defence tho the pill was like bowling with a bar of soap as it kept landing in the kids pool at splashdown.

think you'll find we all went the distance that day.
was an absolute road at the dino's den and they made 400!
in my defence i beat him for flight when he was on 70 odd but spilled a skied caught and bowled chance, he then proceeded to hit me to the maccas drive thru!

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Doing the rounds this morning.. checking out some pre season training down at gravel pits.. and furner avenue

From wat i seen..
Bell Post Hill at furner ave... Brad Stacey was there.. didnt train
North Geelong at furner.. Looked really young.. Colin Millard and Ross Aylmer were the only 2 there over 25
North Shore at furner.. Looked rather scratchy... Opposite of North Geelong.. Most blokes over the age of 30
NDCC at gravel pits.. not too many recognisable blokes.. alot of scratchy batsman
Thomson (i think) at gravel pits.. started as i was leaving.. didnt see smelly but had good numbers there

Murry wouldnt leave st albans for any money, he is happy their and playin good cricket and wont leave because they are good blokes. Thanks newcomb for kicking him out, why the hell you kicked your best player out of the club is beyond me, but your stupidity has certainly benefited st albans :):):)

also best wishes to jeremy babb, respected cricketer and good bloke!!
He must not be as bad as you make him out if you all talk about him!

you would have gone and fetced your own ball in maccas drive through back then and picked up a big mac meal to as you were a little on the porky side as a kid.

What are you on about Sharp Shooter?
A post ago you were saying his playing at Corio for huge COIN now your stating that he wouldn't leave St Albans for cash.

Here's a little hint: "Fact up before you Post up" ;)

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

talent scout... haha nahh

i was looking after the bar at gravel pits early on and then had to drop off a few things to the furner ave joint and just happened to see these sides training

we had junior development training today and have been doing so for the past 4 weeks. senior training starts next sunday if u wanna come down and have a look mate. few good juniors to watch this year and years to come from wat ive watched will be jacko davis and dom mcglinchey prob both play 2s, both in the under 17s as well.

hehe, I think u wanted to start a stir session again :) Not sure if he is overated, I think you need to look at the age of the kid, and he has played a fair bit of 1st XI cricket already. He is a good solid player and will add a fair bit to South in regards to his spin bowling and his hard hitting batting. Let's see how he goes this season to determine if people think he is over-rated.

ohh ok sorry to judge so early on mate
i asked rick wat club it was and all he said was north geelong.
that'd probably be why there were a few older blokes just sitting back watching then
well from the little bit that i seen.. ur right there is a bit of talent with those blokes.. it actually looked like a senior traiing session...
definatly better than wat i seen from north shore anyway

Having played a lot of cricket with Kookaburra balls, there is no doubt they are well and truly worth the extra $. They will improve the standard of cricket by allowing those bowlers to have the ability to use it, an opportunity to be more competitive on flat tracks. The balls last longer, stay harder longer, maintain their shine longer and move in the air more. If the gca is serious about cricket, they need to make the change. Interesting why they use kooka's in country week not platypus.

Sorry folks!!! Platypus again this year. One committee member wouldn't budge.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

no worries mate, half of the blokes training will be playing turf this year. we will be very young, and yes north shore were horrible

Any particular reason behind the committee member not being swayed towards the kooka?

ching ching! the ball got some frequent flyer miles!
West was just as bad, think someone has there whole innings on video camera.
I have spent some long days in the field!

Worst fielding moment would have to go to Shanebournes drop catch at AT! Absolute soda!
Funniest would be Salta bowling "mediums" taking 8 fa and beating babies arm to the bowling average after babies arm had a slight tummy issue, brilliant ;)

I think you're right; he is reasonably young; not too sure how old exactly. However, you are also right in that he has played a first bit of 1st XI cricket and also been down at Geelong and I can't remember too much of him really contributing big numbers.

Not sure, but it's fair to say this committee member has never used either ball and will never use them. How 1 committee person can rule over the rest of them is beyond me. As I have said before on this forum Soft Cock Leadershtp from Agg.

That is bloody dissapointing. It appears as though that committee member was probably looking at it from a monetry perspective. What is suprising is that EVERYONE has to agree to get something changed. How can a committee operate like this? It is not like it is a murder trial or something.|@

In fairness HRW, wouldnt most blokes be fairly scratchy in their first couple net sessions after half a year without a piece of willow in the mitts?

Gee that is severely dissapointing, you speak to all the players who have used the kooka's before and they prefer them over the platypus.

Are you implying that the committee member who made the judgement is in fact a female? ;)
