I know people don't like talking about BPCA but why we're on it does anyone know anything about GWC&FC there new to our comp and i don't know much about them

Surely you pumped them? that standard wouldn't be close to GCA division2.

i'm telling you the top half of bca and the top four from the old slca would easily beat half of the div 2 teams from last year!! The area where the gca clubs are better is there depth down the grades.

BIG THINGS IN 2008-2009​

The BPCA Member Clubs have accepted the proposal for Geelong West Sporting Club to participate in the BPCA from the coming 08/09 season.

After being formally endorsed by the BPCA Executive on 3rd July, Member Clubs voted on Monday night to officially accept the proposal and expand the BPCA to include the 14th club.

As a club, Geelong West, aim to provide their members with the best possible competition and playing environment and believe the BPCA will provide an environment that will allow their club to prosper, whilst providing the best standard of cricket for their members.

Geelong West have a rich history beginning in the 1920's. Last year the club fielded four senior and three junior sides (with St Peter's known as the West Colts).

dont worry bout that. the gloves are off. probably get weeks. double standards by umps and gca.

hehe, don't know about weeks. As far as I am concerned it is all in the past. South will be looking at making sure last season was not just a one off and that South Barwon are actually the real deal. By the time we play Grovedale we will have played a lot of cricket already so will just be another game in the 2008/2009 season. One week at a time !!

Hodgson is a better bat than Fitzgerald at the moment and he will make loads of runs batting at 3 for us. Fitzy plays for Joeys seniors in the GFL and they are still in the finals so he hasn't trained as much.

I have copped many a great sledge from Bushy Thompson in my day..but at least he is actually a half decent bloke off the field.
He bowled himself right up until tea in a game against us and then came on straight after tea bowling off spin. We were at 2/250 when he took himself off.

Runia would be the quickest in the BPCA by a fair way, Vinny is a gun don't start that crap, and were only playing in the Bpca comp I'd like to know who you think would be better than us there?

where ever les ends up (hopefully at ndcc that would be funny) never sell him any club apparel. we banned him from buying any the last few seasons cos he used to wear it everywhere everyday without washing it. dont think he washes himself either

if you do happen to pass out on the 114m journey from the bar to your bed at least the traffic will see you on the side of the road

What a tool, if you couldnt dominate gca div2 what makes you think you can in the bca and if you do that would make it an inferior comp

With the side we got I'd be disappointed if we lost more than 2 games in BPCA we will prove it to all in time, bookmark this post.

Runia on he's day is as quick as anyone in geelong, He will tear apart teams this year.

Bushys a nutcase at times on the field- but comes up with some brilliant material. Made all the more funny by the way he delivers it and the fact he is so old!

vinnie has never been, and will never be a "gun" granted yes, the guy can bat, but he is far from a gun.
and as for runia, he isn't quick anymore. he can be sharp, but not quick. i mean murray isnt half as quick as he used to be, and he'll still be twice as quick as runia.

all i know is the kid's like, 16, was averaging around 20 or 30 with a couple of 50s in the firsts, plus making constant good scores in the juniors.

If you play in Melb how do ypu know the standard of GCA?

couple of years ago when you guys finished early because of the drought a couple of your players came down and played in melbourne and i came down and watch your finals last year. very good comp don't get me wrong.

we played marshall one day, at tea watched ndcc v sth barwon when murray was still there. he looked pretty bloody quick that day, a LOT quicker than runia has ever looked.

I agree. I opened that day and yes he was quick!!! He was the fastest I faced last year. Super carry through to the keeper.

Maybe do your research a bit better before you start spruiking about your club. a) West Colts was not shared with St Peters; they were shared with Geelong West and; b) You ask who Chris Jones is when he has won a Div 1 1st XI bowling average and an extremely good GCA bowler. Learn a little bit about who your opponents are and the good players in the comp before you start predicting big things. Here's a free tip; just concentrate on being competitive first and playing good cricket; because if you don't you will look like a goose.

Speakin of Ty Watts and sledges...dunno how good of a sledge it was but he absolutely tore apart a south player in the grand final who was takin out the drinks at break. never heard such an ordinary attack on someone who hadnt even gotten in the game yet! Musta worked. they won.
