Glasses while batting

Re: Glasses while batting

i find it hard to bowl with glasses on, and the frames of glasses can be a distraction when picking up the ball mid flight while batting.

personally, i try to always wear contact lenses while playing any sport, including cricket.

Contact lenses take some getting used to. At first they were really hard to put in my eyes, but I got used to it after a few times. Also, you have to take care to not sleep in them, and wearing them for a long time can make them dry out and get uncomfortable. The main advantage to them is they are much better in terms of sports performance and if you don't like the look of regular glasses, it is an advantage to wear lenses!

Re: Glasses while batting

I tried to play with glasses in my last match and believe me it helps a great deal. I thought I was able to see the ball a little earlier than usual, and considering my form (a 1 followed by a duck) my performance the other day wasn't all that bad, the fact that the pitch had almost no bounce and that wickets were falling around me like every 2 minutes didn't help either.

vettori as a spinner looks crafty with glasses.

Yeah, I remember Anil Kumble used to wear glasses too when he started. He switched to contacts soon. I dont know how Vettori plays with glasses. Wont they fall off while running or diving?

Why's that, stumped?? Does it help you see the ball better?

well i have a pair of Oakleys with a couple of different lens, one for bright sunny days, which are polarised and help bring out the colours making it easier to track a red ball. The clear ones i only use if its an overcast day and i was standing up.....

But having said that if i'm standing up now i use my helmet so not so worried about using the glasses for protection, unless i get hit in the bridge of the nose agion by some more bails!

Re: Glasses while batting

well if they are built to withstand Bullet ricochets then i think a cricket ball or bail should be ok!

Re: Glasses while batting

Off topic again, does anyone know why Sehwag wears a bandana, is it because he's bald??

I didn't realise glasses were built to be that strong!!

Re: Glasses while batting

if you read some of oakleys lenses they are built to withstand more than lead! shotguns, and other cool stuff!

but a richochet is moving alot slower than a bullet! luckily!
