Guess The Item 🤔

Christmas beetle.

I didn't know they could fly Craig so I asked Goggle that said:

Christmas beetles are good flyers and can cover distances of several kilometres. Many fly at dusk, but they are often attracted to lights after dark and can end up buzzing around the front porch.
But No, it's not any sort of Beetle 🐞 nor sings pop songs like ya, ya ya... 🎼🎸🥁🎹

My next hint was going to bee that "this busy insect works cooperatively in groups", but no need as it is a Bee 🐝.

Well done Craig!

Your turn when you're ready Craig, but I'm happy to do another, or Thomas or Jessica?

....... to bee or not to bee...

I worked as a Bee keeper before Uni and grew to love them.
Amazing insects that are sadly declining in numbers. Without them things would be bleak. I happily prune bushes in my garden with bees buzzing about. They ignore me and I never kill them. I think they know I'm no danger to them. They do die though if they sting, leaving their barb and pumping poison sack all ripped out of their back end.
I'd just use a finger nail to flick out both barb and poison sack. Easy for me but not for the Kamikaze Bee.

Australia has over 1,700 species of native bees and only 11 of these species are stingless! The rest can sting. I got so used to stings I worked without gloves until one day I had a reaction and one hand swelled to double its size. I got a day off work for that. :)

Sure would Terry. Bees are a crucial part of sustaining life on Earth as they pollinate much of what we humans consume. They account for one third of the world’s food supply, provide food for one in five species on the planet, and pollinate an estimated $150 billion worth of crops every year.
