No. The cooking device is large enough ( ca. 50 cm long) for a specific dish to be prepared which is why it has that peculiar form. Early on I said "it was a kitchen device" indicating that it's no longer used. The dish prepared in it used to be eaten far more often than today.

Not really , for which part of the turkey would go into the y- shaped pan? The animal is hunted and also kept at home. The pan is needed for the legs that are roasted ,too.

Feral pigs roaming vast Aussie regional lands are hunted then spit roasted.
Unlike the French we dont eat rabbits/hares as they are a pest. A thousand km fence had to be built to keep them out of regional properties.
