If they really want better resources and coaching to improve themselves then they should head to district cricket.
who are you to Know that they would want to go to district some if not most just want to play with their mates develop at clubs where they play their juniors and then win flags with mates. you go to district its lonely big time committed and depending on how much a player can suffer from playing in that environment they can end up being a terrible bloke when their older.

Did you even read the above comments which is why I said what I did. If a young bloke from a lesser like club wants better resources and coaching then district clubs provide this best. Not the better local cricket clubs. Of coarse we play with our mates, but if you want to leave a club to better yourself then northcote is going to be a better option than going to a club like rosebank.

so you genuinely believe you would improve more playing 4's at northcote under the coaching of no one opposed to playing 1's and 2's at a Rosanna under the guidance of a Huss, or a Rosebank under the guidence of Samps and Plumps, or a Heidelberg under a Bubbles or Noons. Got rocks in your head palsy.

No more honestly needs to be said in regards to this topic as Chins has burnt all the white hairs of your beard you smurf whats left of your arguement is a piece of overcooked meat that looks like a dehydrated turnip

Absolutely as I said distric and never said playing 4ths, if they are going to go to Rosebank and play 1sts they will be playing higher than district 4ths. Professional attitude with more coaches and resources to improve as a player. Much better training than at local cricket level. Most of our premiership team have played at a district club before and doesnt look like it has done much harm

I'm tipping he'd punch you straight in the mouth hero!
Hiding behind face names to get a laugh., weak prick!
i'm sorry if i hurt anyone's feelings but i was only paying a tribute to this great man who is a legend of the West Heidelberg Cricket Club and deserves all the honour he receives he's way.

No need to get personal on here.. Ok to have a bit of fun, but bagging other player like that is crap.

fair enough garden, fair enough.

i disagree smurf, i think that when you start off a district club you start in the 4th's, 3's at best esspecially if your a young kid. I think you're better off earning some stripes in A-Grade before you head to a district club, that's just my point of view.

Not really. I've played at west for 10 years.. And little toothless rick is my cousin.
I can't sick back and my old club get whacked around.
Chicken man.

ok i see so what's the plan for next season NMCA maybe join DVCA or try and maybe fit in with ECA. So many options to choose from

I'm playing in the dvca at the moment. And they want nothing to do with lower clubs.. They want Rosanna , Heidelberg and banyule. Simple... Edinborough.. Too far! Not sure about rosebank.
Where do the above teams start then Goonie money? Or does the DV accomodate for these strong clubs and put them in Barclay? Not going to happen i know but you have to aggree they are all A-Grade clubs in their own right

They'll start in money. Dvca said they'll work out anything to get them over..16 club comp, split into two.
Eltham, mont, lower plenty , Greensboro , Rosanna , Heidelberg, banyule, thomastown , sth morang. Etc. not a bad comp if you ask me.

Could not agree more Papa Smurf. If a young player, say at the age of 16 has potential and he and his family are willing to make the committment, then a district club would be the way to go. Not only do district clubs have the best conditions, but they also have the best coaches and would spend quality time with the younger players, I have seen this first hand.

I think a few of the lads on this forum have tried to play district before and simply failed and now try and play it down.

Dont disagree mate but how many kids/parents have the luxury of this free time; not many, I'm just talking about getting the best out of your local cricket clubs before you take the step up to higher pastures.
