Blue Blood, not a bad side however i feel Kelsey would be a better option than Noonan as his batting is obviously stronger and there are plenty of bowlers without him(My opinion only!) On Butera, that was exactly the reason i left him out, never doubted or questioned his ability to bat but when a group of blokes come together to represent the comp you want everyone committed!!! We will wait and see in the weeks to come who makes themselves unavailable again?????

Re: HDCA cricket forum

speaking of rep teams, ive heard there is an u/21 rep side which will play a few games against other comps. wat are peoples thoughts on possible inclusions? im sure alexei kerveeze would be a very handy player in that tournament along with the blazing batsman/keeper brad smout from the river rats

Re: HDCA cricket forum

A few big games this week. What are people's thoughts?

Here I go -

West Ivanhoe to get over the Blowies. Corey Martin to win the day in the cellar dwellar cup.

Heidelberg just in a good game at Brunswick St. The Bergs bats can be vulnerable when put under pressure - just like last week, and I expect Nick and Shadbolt to mount a very competitive total. Don't be surprised if there is a turn-up in this game.

Roasanna easily over the East Ivanhoe All-Stars. With a bit of luck the 'Sannas would have been sitting pretty on top. The Saints have an average attack which the red-hot bats from De Winton will take full toll of.

The Slime in a close one against Banyule. Always good games between these arch rivals. Occa and Rowdy the keys to the Bears hopes. If they strike early with the ball, they could run through a still suspect Greensborough batting line-up. Interesting to see the reception Micky B gets from his ex-teamates.

Surely you dont think edinbourghs attack can rattle the bergs, there attack would be average at best. Dont think corey martin can get west ivanhoe over the blowies, The blowies have too much depth in there batting for west ivanhoe.

U21 Rep Team

There was a plan to enter an U21 team in this years VMCU Wright Shield but not sure if they've nominated a team with the VMCU. There are lots of good U21s in HDCA e.g the following are all in 1st/2nd Grade regularly:

Young, Kanageiser (West), Tsadarkis, Williams, Cunningham (g'boro), Smout, Walker, Edwards, Keating (H'berg),Kevrvezee, Maddocks (EIS), Shelton, Carlton, Dunbar (Rosanna), Sussex, Calder, Foot (Edinburgh), Gelling, Taranto (Viewbank), Clapton, Melton (Banyule) etc. etc.

Mate, there batting is overrated IMO. With Rajah Singh and Smout opening the batting they could(should) be 2 for FA every week. All of a sudden that puts pressure on their middle order. That showed last week!

And which superstar batting lineup do you play for???? Singh & Smout are both youngsters with promising futures and as for the batting being overated, take a look at the last 10 years, 4 flags, 3 runners up & 3 1 day flags in a row, you don't get those results with an overated lineup.

Re: HDCA cricket forum

I might not have explained myself that well. What I was trying to say was that if you lose early wickets it puts a lot of pressure on any middle order and that IMO Heidelberg's openers aren't the best going around. Even with favrin in the team you always think you're a chance to have them in trouble early and under pressure. The GF 2 years ago was aclassic example!

You obviously have some connection with Rosanna then, yes you are right that game was a very ordinary one for Heidelbergs batsman however i would rather have that lineup than a lot of others going round, plenty of experience down the order that have done the job numerous times in recent years.

Re: HDCA cricket forum

There's no way BB is from Rosanna. He wouldn't sprout about Heidelberg having a suspect top order. The Sannas haven't exactly got the best record in big games. Lost the unlosable GF against Dads' Army when bolwed out for 115 when chasing a moderate score at Chelsworth and then got bowled out for 70 odd in one day GF! Both against the Bergs. Off the top of my head over the past 5-6 years, the 2 have played half a dozen or so times in finals and the score is 5-1.
