Heidelberg are a good side. not a great side. their top 4 are good and the rest are evenly matched. by the sounds of it they took their opponents lightly and paid for it. Theres not much between the top 2 sides. From what Ive seen they are lucky Macleod isnt in the HDCA. Macleod has 1 freak and 4 guns and the rest are better than the bergers bottom half.

i always thought that macleod should be in the HDCA
who are there 5 best players goliath?

Teams dont fear Heidelberg anymore unlike last year all you have 2 do is go ok

Get Powick Early
Bowl Spin to Cookson
And Keep it Tight To Mcleod and we win

You look at East Ivanhoe at the other hand
Sure not one of there players is as talented as powick or cookson but there line up is alot better than Heidelbergs

Heidelberg Better not be 2 cocky or banyule might get over them

I think the tides are slowly changing

Look at the bottom teams Greensy, Rosanna , Banyule
All are slowly on the Rise
Greensy are now all rounded Strong as are Banyule
Unlike last year Rosanna hardly had any strength in there batting.
But now guys are standing up with Especially Lynn Finding Golden Form.
Should be a very interesting Season Coming

and from what i have seen, cookson plays spin with ease,
and keeping it tight with macleod is also easier said than done
ur forgetting about mitch hand also, a very capable batsman that can quite easily hit 50
nolan and begeman also capable, if i remember correctly they steered heidelberg to victory against banyule in the semi final last yr when their top order failed

dont write the bergers off yet

east ivanhoe have no star quality and wont challenge the bergers in the finals

bowl spin the cookson, well i hope you bowl mitch lovell to him, i have nothing against mitch but he will hit you to every corner of the park.
as for macleod, does it really matter after cookson have both walked of the ground with 50 retired?
and as for the next round
the best thing is, the berger will be pumped up and murder banyule

Macleod U14s had 8 players do rep cricket during the break, 4 in the Falcons.Ejaz is the freak(39 4ths sub district wickets so far and hes 12) and Ben Lennon ( easy play 1sts HDCA) is the gun bat and fielder. Cottier,Goulding,Maineri,Domini,Doherty,Baxter and Langford round it off and the rest are tidy as well. Macleod,Diamond creek,Heidelberg and EIS would make a great finals series. Maybe 3 of these teams will play eachother in 2009/10 who knows?

ejaaz and ben lennon are both very good cricketers,
but correct me if im wrong, domini played in the heidelberg green side last yr?
if he was a gun, no matter what age he was, i think he wouldve been picked in their gold team...
it would be a good game, but i couldnt see macleod dominating heidelberg at all

heidelbergs cockiness could cost the top spot with unexpected losses, greensborough. the word around that the heidelbergs umpire almost won them the game with some absolutely ridiculous decisions towards the burra batsmen

heildelbergs rein has come to an end with a shock loss to greenzy - why was powick keeping, he can't keep to save his life & his byes lost them the game

I know how great a player Powick is
But im saying he cant win every match on his bat
Hell Have good days and have bad he may be talented but hes human but its just the Heidelberg boys talk him up so much like hes some god of a player and doesnt have bad days.

I've played Justin about 6 or 7 times and 3 times hes made over 30 twice hes made ducks and the rest is in bewteen well cept that Hatch game where he was dropped by the biggest sitter ever on 3 so yeah...

I have a great deal of respect for him, but crickets a funny game and even the best of players are gonna **** up.

And as for Cookson Yes he too is a great player much better than me well no shit..
But we all no The Lion is Cookie
So from my experience playing him he has alot of trouble with spin even the average players.
So if he says That he plays spin with ease he obviously wont admit his faults
Im not here to bag the shit out of everybody

no one is a favourite in my book
it only takes one ball or one good batting innigns and its an upset
also you can not base statistics on who is going to be in the grand final and finals
some teams will fail under pressure and it happens to the best of teams

so lets just stop this arguing

and btw whoever said the heidelberg umpire gave greensy shocking desicions

cookson clearly can play spin if he made 25* and 40* both times he has played against u GR8*1

powick has been making runs all yr so i dont see whats going to change come finals time

guarantee heidelberg will win the 15 gold premiership again
