I need help!

Hi, I am intrested in buying a new bat. i like bats which arent heavy because it helps me in the placement of the balls as i am not much of a slugger. So which bat do u suggest which is easy to handle.

Re: I need help!

Pretty much any bat there is! Most companies will allow you to specify a weight and if you're able to go and buy in person then you can check the pick up and see how it feels.

Do you have any favoured brands or players?

I thought lighter bats are for people who like to give it a whack, and heavier bats are for people who just nudge it around? Not the opposite?

Light for nudging and heavy for slogging makes sense to me.

Nudging requires more precise control of the bat and so the lighter the better. With a heavier bat, you can wind it up and take a swing at the ball - and if it connects it will go a mile.

A lot will also depend on the pick up and balance. A heavy bat with a great pick up may well feel a lot lighter than a bat 3/4ozs lighter.

Re: I need help!

its all about finding a balance!

i love my heavy bat! but i cant play all the shots i need or want to with it! yet with my lighter bat i cant play the bigger shots!

Re: I need help!

Use the heaviest bat you can play effectively with, I'd say 2lb 9oz is the most commonly used weight in cricket.

Re: I need help!

In 2007 I had an Ishan that was probably around 2lb 13. I was getting really tired hands whilst batting.

Switched this year to one of my Nasty Cricket Blasters, but at 2lb 8, and it has certainly helped! Still got the middle I need to hit the bigger shots, but the pick up and ease of holding the bat means that its unlikely that I will use a heavier bat againi to be honest.
