Kandy Lions Season 5
Here is the current Kandy Lions squad. We still need a keeper, and a think we are best served going into the season with 6 batsmen, 6 bowlers, 1 all-rounder, and 1 keeper. (I suppose 5 bowlers and 2 all-rounders might also be a workable combination.) I would prefer the keeper position and the (sole) all-rounder spot to go to someone who posts, so I'd like to ask one of our bowlers or batsmen to volunteer to keep wicket. Jerk will then replace that person as a bowler or batsman, as the case may be.
I would also suggest that Toddys10 or Danzan22 become either a left-arm fast or a right-arm fast-medium bowler, as there may be a certain sameness to our attack at the moment.
Two seasons ago, I took over Capetown United, a team that had never won a premiership in its previous two years of existence. I moved the team to Kandy and changed its name to the Lions. At first the team continued to lose, especially in the one-day arena, and the former captain, OHHHHHHH NO BALL!!, expressed unhappiness with my leadership and asked to be traded, which he was. I changed my team selection philosophy in response to that ordeal and the team began to turn things around, winning a first-class premiership. The next season, the team only got better, winning the first-class and one-day premierships and the 25/25 tournament. It was arguably the most successful season in BCFCL history.
I tried to be a good captain, get the line-up in on time, and put the best XI on the field, even if it meant dropping myself from the one-day team. I have set out all that I accomplished to do as a captain, and now I am looking to pass the torch on to someone else.
