Minging and beautiful cricket pitches

Re: Minging and beautiful cricket pitches

OK, I've got a truck load more images. They are all football images because those games get a lot of press.

Yeh in winter definitely, but they play footy in cricket's off season so the ground is fine when we play.

Re: Minging and beautiful cricket pitches

Oh ok. Part of our outfield is on a football (soccer) pitch and it's really chewed up til about half way through the season.

Re: Minging and beautiful cricket pitches

i love having a village ground which is only used for Cricket! Our groundsman goes mental if anyone brings anything other than a Cricket ball onto the field! and i mean he will shout and tell anyone to remove it! lol

bless him!

ironic he broke his ankle last year kicking a football with a 2 year old. (on the ground)

Re: Minging and beautiful cricket pitches

This is my ground. What do you think?

Re: Minging and beautiful cricket pitches

Yeah......The grass looks a lot....good for fielding.One can easily dive i guess.
This is our outfield..Can u imagine us to dive and stop the ball....No Chance

Re: Minging and beautiful cricket pitches

We don't have a cricket ground for ourselves. Most grounds where clubs play are dry hard sand with small pieces of rocks on it. This is my school ground (I train here 3 times a week). Cement pitch with mat. Ignore the random weirdos in the pic - this pic is before some academy match, many academies use it for coaching:

Sharjah Cricket Stadium, my coaching academy ground, turf:

The pitch (above) is damn slow, and the outfield is also frickin' slow.

Zayed Cricket Stadium, this is where we play most of our tournament matches, turf:

It has a sauna, huge locker room, amazing dressing rooms and all kinds of facilities. But the seats in the stands are fulle of dust and dirt.

This is how Dubai Cricket Stadium is gonna look like, most of it is complete now. It looks exactly like the image:

I really wish to get a chance to play on that!!!!!

Re: Minging and beautiful cricket pitches

Man, you get to play your games in a stadium. I guess it is the UAE, soon to be the home of the worlds tallest tower and 3 man made islands. But man I wish I could play in a stadium ::)

Re: Minging and beautiful cricket pitches

Yeah it is........ but they don't really have much cricket here - we don't get to play test matches!!
Guess it's the heat. You can't play for more than 3 hrs at 45 C temperature.

Lots of buildings coming now. I heard 600 buildings with 100+ floors are coming to UAE over the next few years. It was in the news a few days back that some company had already started planning for a taller tower than the present one 10 yrs after its construction. These ppl are so totally obsessed with buildings.

Re: Minging and beautiful cricket pitches

Shaaz,
Do u play matches on Mat or prepared pitches.
The stadium looks good and it is a good experience for u and since u will be playing in club grounds in India from nextmonth.
The experience of playing in different conditions will be helpful to you.

Re: Minging and beautiful cricket pitches

We play matches on prepared pitches..... it's quite a big difference really. The problem most players face here is the limited amount of practice on prepared pitches.

Do you ever get any county games there? 2nd XI or anything like that?

Not that I know of. It could never be used at the weekend anyway.

That is a beautiful ground.
Nice club house and good green outfield.
Must be wonderful to play with people watching the game :)

I must confess I generally play on the pitch (we have two) that is just to the left of the picture, which is just as nice without the crowd though. :p I have played on that pitch this season and in the past, though the crowd generally only turn out for the 1st X1 games.
