A good win by Pacoe on weekend, I watched them chase down 194 with the loss of 4 wickets and 4 overs to spare. From what i saw it was played in great spirit by both teams. A big well done to barklys Captain who in the true spirit of cricket recalled a batter after being given out runout when he wasnot out that is a example of true sportsmanship.

Congratulations again to the Pascoe Vale boys.

A hard fought win against a worthy opponent. Played at Barkley, expecting a road and we got everything but. To Barkley defence, Soccer ran over time on the ground leaving little time for preparation.

You might say 400 runs in a day doesn't constitute a mine field, but it would be fair to say, not alot of true cricket shot were able to be played with the ball holding up and at times exploding off the pitch.

PVSC won the toss and elected to bowl, early on we provide too much room for their openers to free their arms through the offside. Once this was corrected through the experience of Mark Pallini ( a great spell 3 for 30 - should have been a 5 for), we were back in the game. Barkley's batsmen did well, waiting for room and length while using the quick ground to full advantage.

I thought a good score to chase would be 150 and believed we were going to hold them to that until Benny Campbel entered. A great innings and one of the cleanest hitters in the comp.

Chasing about 200 is always a hugh challenage and you often need a little luck. We got our fair share. Dom again reliable, Pugger doing a job for the team (often overlooked) good to see reward for effort, a nice 40 that set up the chase. Again a little luck played a part, with the Barkley bowlers being able to observe the wicket during their batting innings, they bowled very good areas - they have a very good bowling attack in the making.

One person who made his own luck was one Brett Pallini. A great knock during the toughest part of play - ball getting older and softer on a slow dec. But handled the situation perfectly and brought the boys home for 6 deserved points.

Best thing about this weeks win was, we had different contributors. Always a good sign when the workload is being shared.

Looking forward to next weeks clash, only disappointment is D Jolly wont be there, any chance of him coming back for this week?

21 balls to spare and a lot of tears after the game! and poor form by Pipey not shaking hands after telling us how bad we were during the game!! OOH BYTHE WAY WELL BATTED KINGY you showed us why you left our club! Glenroy will get used of you failing we did.

CDCA, you guys deservedly won the game and the game for the most part was played in good spirits although there was a couple of incidents (1 each side) that could be deemed to be un sportsman like. The one you mention above was addressed immediately after the game and hopefully it WILL NOT HAPPEN again. I just hope that other incident was addressed by your club.

In regards to Kingy, he is only a young bloke, give him a chance. He is a good addition to our batting line up and showed that last week with 41 no and getting us over the line.

In saying all that, good luck for the remainder of the season guys. :)

Re: MMVCA General Cricket Chat 2009/10

Some interesting results on the weekend.

West Coburg def St Marys. Well done guys, everyone seemed to write Callum and the boys off at the start of the season and to beat St Marys is no easy feat.

Merlo very comfortable over Easts as well. Well batted Tyson, career best form i would say. Well done mate, keep up the good work.

And St Andrews struggling to get over the line against Sunshine Heights with the 9th wicket putting on 50 runs for the win. Well done guys.

I think this all goes to show you just how close the competition actually is and that it is definitely not a 2 horse race.

that's Great News.

We do think we are good enough to play finals and there is no better confirmation or belief than performing well against the yard stick of competion that includes the best batsman and bowler of the comp. That is our challenge and I for one, am looking forward to it.

Good attempt at humour there mmvca, again it's a serious question, does he thing that Jolley is the best bat in the comp?

Interesting. I hear a lot about Babo and Parker on here but not much about Jolley.

Im not really sure anyone cares who the best is.

Have you played against all the sides in this comp??? If you have, then i guess you can come to your own conclusions.

Back to Cricket.

You boys need to get a wriggle on mate, might need the F.O.S to come down and run training one night to get you back on track.

How good is this year looking with Pacco,Merlo,St Francis all playing well and the regular finals teams now put under a little pressure early in the season.

Looking forward to seeing my mates from Pacco this week(hello Terra) and good to see them taking up the challenge early in the year.

My motto is always support hard, but never bag the opposition.(except Harry and Bruiser)

Sure to talk to you through the season

Campbellfield Cricket Club cordially invites all clubs to make use of our facilities and services available to you on game days. There are teams in this association including the womens teams that will play on our ground so please feel free to forward this onto your club.

CANTEEN

Our club prides itself on being well prepared so have taken the liberty of running a fully stocked canteen and bar facilities for you and your members to enjoy.

The canteen will be serving a variety of foods such as chicken nuggets, fish and calamari, amongst other things all served with chips in a snack box. Steak sandwiches, Hot Dogs,

Hamburgers, Schnitzel Rolls, Dim Sims and Hot Chips. Not forgetting the kids (and those big kids at heart) we have assorted Chocolate Bars, Potato Chips and Ice Creams.

You can replenish your thirst with a great variety of Soft Drinks, Sports Drinks or Water. Alcoholic Beveridge’s are available if you are over 18 years of age.

FACILITIES

We have made an adjustment to our game day procedure this season. To prevent any injuries to people tripping over there will NOT be any cricket bags allowed in the Main Pavilion.

We will however, have the Pavilion known as Bay 13 open for your convenience to change into your uniforms and to place your cricket bags in.

Everyone is welcome to use our main Pavilion for Afternoon Tea, to use the amenities (a disabled toilet is available) and also to enjoy after match socialising.

We look forward to sharing our venue with you and wish everyone the best for the 2009/2010 season

We are keeping a lid on it at the moment, RooBoy.

Will be a very good game this one Bomber. All way a tough contest no matter where both sides on are the ladder.
We may have a couple of changes this week which will make us bit stronger.

Always look forward to this game Old School. Missed it last year. Might have to bring my "A" game with me this week, lol.
Just hope the weather holds off as it doesn't look good at this stage.
