A bowler like that is just awesome to have in the team - can really lift a team not only with a crucial wicket but also a ripper ball that goes past a batsman's nose. Dont have to hurt someone to make an impact!

I dont think he would be aiming to hurt anyone and I think the fact that he does not ball short often is a sign of that.

Sounds like a ripper bloke and a ripper bowler.

Need more characters like that in our comp.

I think that's what I was trying to say in my post of players you would love to have. An opening bowler who has a presence, not necessarily a killer but a guy who can stir up the opposition not by what he does but the image of what he could do. Aaron was good enough to stick one in short get it past the batsmen's nose and send a message. Loved watching him bowl- hard wickets was his key, bouncey under prepared MMVCA wickets might not help him.

This is what made The Socials a great team in past Years IMO. A bloke by the name of Darren Black....Who everytime he bowled had a presence...wasn't scared to bowl them around a batsmans chin and quite often got off on hitting blokes in the scon!!...not that he did all the time, but batsmen knew he could if he wanted too. Made me as a keeper look good because he got heaps of edges (unfortunately i didn't take them all). The harder it got, the quicker he got.

So yep i agree with the above comment a fast opening bowler with a bit of C..T in him is a great thing.

Hirdy, playing at merlo I've heard plenty about Blacky and his influence over the years. Not to mention the fact he started at Merlo!

Looks like the weather is going to play a part in the semi's

thats too bad....just means St Andrews wont get a chance to defend their title again!

Re: MMVCA General Cricket Chat

Is it true that Brad Hunter has put his hand up to step down as Captain for the remainder of this season due to a lack of respect from a handful of players??? If this is the case it must put some serious doubts on there chance of winning this years flag!
You would also suggest it would put a cross through his name for being the club Coach next season!!!
Has anyone else heard this?

Its that time of year again!

West Coburg v St Andrews;

West Coburg- Batting is no good, but bowling is quality. If they dont keep St Andrews under 220, they wont win.

St Andrews- Need to win the toss and bat first. 220 or more and they win easily. If they bowl first i cant see them winning. Call it a gut feel.

St Marys v Glenroy;

St Marys- Will need 250+ to win the game. Need more out of Brown, Hunter, and King. Harris Zimmer and Cacchine ( spelling ) all got runs last week, but i dont think they are capable of doing it two weeks in a row.
Glenroy- Lucky to be there, but are the form side ATM, and are always dangerous. The danger is still Parker, so if he goes early, then a bit of panic tends to set in.

Having said all that, i think it will be a repeat of last years GF. I dont think West Coburg even believe themselves they can win, and St Andrews are a proven side come March. St Marys have been talking bout redemption all year, and will be switched on to avoid a repeat of last year, and Glenroy i just dont think are good enough just yet.

In the washup of all that crap i just wrote, i think St Marys have shown this year that they have the goods, ( unfortunately ), so i cant go past them for this years flag.

A prime example of how things are going down at St.Marys, even bagging there own players..
No wonder Brad Hunter wants to step down.

Re: MMVCA General Cricket Chat

Give it a big spell FFNB, you have no idea what your talking about in many regards. St Andrew's struggle afta they've used their "specialist" bowlers. The MARY'S will take care of themselves, there no need for these "approx" runs needed etc. I bet you'll be way off come Monday evening if needed.

LOL, You like stirring the pot dont you. If that was the case, then why does he have the whole senior list behind him 100%.

Your tripe, no matter when you jump on, is not only boring, but just plain laziness on your behalf in that you cannot even research what crap your spewing onto this forum.

Its about time you grew up.

Yet again your at it.

Worry about your own club, that is, if you have one. Oh and did you enjoy our function last Saturday nite?

Is it the truth or not?
Did Brad Hunter put his hand up to step down from the Captains role?

Re: MMVCA General Cricket Chat

mmvca what i have been told you have are one of the main guys that have been hard to manage this year! Your attitude the game we played this season was terrible. If it was not for your close friendship with B.Hunter you would've or should've been playing in a lower grade.
Hopefully you can have a good final series and leave the game on a good note, as i dont think you are going to be a big loss next season. I think it's time that St.Marys cut the dead wood and started to blood some young kids.

Good luck this weekend.

LOL. Thats all i have to say to you.

Re: MMVCA General Cricket Chat

Boys look like they are firing up nicely for the weekend.

I hope you guys get a chance to get out there.

My tip is a Sunday / Monday game.

Considering the weather interruptions we have had this year it is no surprise it has put a spanner in the works again.....

LOL

mmvca why is it that you will not answer my question. That to me is saying that my information is correct.
As they say - Nothing says a 1000 words.

Do you guys need a wheel jack to put the wheels back on at your club?

Re: MMVCA General Cricket Chat

Looks as if this weekends weather is going to play a major role in this weeks game. Oh well just adds to the interesting season we have had already.
Hopefully it rains so i can enjoy a day on the punt...
