I agree with Oldman. You must have a serious problem with CCC, what is it?

It seems every chance you get you are trying to get stuck into them.

As for your rumors of big losses, yes we have lost a couple of players but we have gained more than we lost. We have only lost 1 player who was on the cusp of the 1st eleven, the rest would have played seconds. It is not good to see these guys go but they have moved on for senior positions at another club so good luck to them but it has not weakened our 1st eleven at all!

More importantly how are your boys Roxy shaping up??

No problem with CCC, just have an opion that Campbellfield will finish last, good to see you recruited well to cover the losses.

My Tips for Round 1 are

Buckley Park to beat Kealba
Pascoe Vale Central to beat Gladstone Park
Roxy to beat Campbellfield.

3 broken ribs take some time to heal especially when your built like Macca and i know the doctor has told him to miss up to 6 weeks ,so looking at the draw he will be back round 4 which is a bye for CCC
New news also Barney has a broken thumb so will miss at least the first 2 games.
All come at the wrong time of year no Noddy no Macca now no Barney should make for an interesting round 1

Re: North West Cricket Association 09/10

I think most sides will be undermanned in the first few rounds we have a few out with footy trips, Keatsy is suspended for the first 3 and Cammers is going under the knife for a hernia op this week and could miss up to 4 weeks.

Re: North West Cricket Association 09/10

Can anyone from Syd Hilside confirm that, for 2009/10 Syd Hillside picked up Ilmy Azar played @ Taylors Lakes in the past.
He is a gun bat ; but his batting style not good enough for two day format of the game.

Gun bat but style not good enough for 2 day cricket. Interesting concept. If he's a gun how he looks is irrelevant, if you average over 50 consistently (which is what a gun must do) u will be picked in both 1 and 2 day games. If u can slog a few in 20/20 and 1 dayers that makes u a bloke who can slog a few, not a gun

Funniest thing Ive ever heard 225 runs at 37 in E grade and a gun
if he plays Luscombe at the storm then sign me up Rigga

Re: North West Cricket Association 09/10

lol E grade ..didnt even think we had that grade in the NWCA.
wots all the gossip about killa not playing at roxy...thought we had that covered on this forum yonks ago - wot a loss 2 roxy so was just wondering if every1's tips in round 1 will stand or change.
less than a week 2 go boys .. any gossip on late pick ups or losses or retirements.

My definition of a "gun bat" is certainly not someone who has a slog fest in a lower grade of cricket. The term "gun" is used on here far to frequently.

My definition of a "gun bat" is a player who over many years consistantly makes more than 500 runs a season, bats using every stroke in the book to perfection, does his job as required by the team, never stops learning no matter how good he is and is a team player.
All of these qualities make a "gun bat" not someone who makes 300 one season and 200 the next. Consistancy is the key word here.

In 14 games of Luscombe a "gun bat" should be making a minimum of 50 runs an innings meaning at least a minimum 700 runs a season. Not impossible cos he would bat every innings sometimes twice. Unfortunately it's been many years since someone made that many runs let alone on on a regular basis.

What do others think a "gun bat" is ?

12 th man agree .

to many players get the tag of gun bats when they are far from it .

gun bat ?

simple , the players that make runs when it counts . big games and finals .

half the games during the season are meaningless . unfortunately the comp. is in a situation where you basically pencil in wins before a ball is bowled in anger .
markham from taylors perfect example . steps up at money time .

total season runs ?
if you are a half decent player , not just a gun ,bat in the top order and have 14- 16 hits during season , no reason why you shouldnt get 500 .
last season they played upto 9 one day games .
only top 3-4 bats have chance to get most runs .

way to many players get the gun tag when they are just honest local nwca players . someone that has played at a higher standard standouts out big time .

they say ccc are a big show this season . have they got any gun bats ?
who are the guns ?

you'l get different names every time . changes from club to club . as per previous entry some havent got any idea what a gun is .

Re: North West Cricket Association 09/10

i agree - gunbats/bowlers used 2 frequently....certain players maybe guns inside their clubs but i think the buck stops there.
gunbat.....most probably shep and markham from gladdy who consistantly make bagful of runs each season and bowlers...thomas was.
i c that there is a pool of thought that ccc will do well this season and i must admit im 1 of them. they mite not have gun bats but i just think that they have a consistant lineup that will cause damage 2 opposition bowling lineups. they also have a decent bowling lineup which may include a gun bowler but we cannot go off 1 season so only time will tell i guess.
as far as stats go....i dont really care how good players have been.....i look at the present because that is wot will win u games and ultimately a luscombe shield flag.
i read an interesting article from terry scott....pretty much reckons a 1 horse race this season with gladdy - i think this season will b very interesting but do agree gladdy r the team 2 beat.
by far gladdy and taylors hav been the 2 standout teams in luscombe shield of late so its up2 the rest of the comp 2 close the gap.
on a personal note....how r those injuries going down at ccc - they could muck my top 4 tips up.
good luck 2 all teams involved this season
