Official MLB Discussion Thread

Since it seems we have a few baseball fans kicking about, we may as well have somewhere to discuss the goings-on of the MLB. So let's talk.

First topic I'd like answered - how wussy are they? Having a game postponed because it's too cold? Put on your sweaters, get out there, and play!

Re: Official MLB Discussion Thread

was it just that it was too cold or was there snow and ice about?

i haven't looked into it to be honest, all i know is that it was postponed, but a frozen pitch would have something to do with it.

I can understand a game being postponed because of that, it makes sense, albeit, like you said, a bit wussy.

...such is life

Re: Official MLB Discussion Thread

The forecast was for 'light flurries', but they played through that on Monday. In 1977, the first Blue Jays game ever was played and there was a couple centimetres of snow on the ground. The world was become weak....

Re: Official MLB Discussion Thread

we know the world has become weak: that's just common knowledge

what do you think of Toronto's chances this season?

Re: Official MLB Discussion Thread

Well, if they played in any other division I would say they are a surefire playoff team. Playing in the AL East, they are still only a hopeful.

I've complained for a long time (since before the Jays were even good) that the unbalanced schedule is not fair from a competitive standpoint. If we are competing with somebody for a wild card spot, it is only truly fair if we play the same schedule they do.

Most likely the Yankees will take the division and Boston will take second, and compete with somebody from the Central for the wild card. But it's a long season, and anything can happen.

Re: Official MLB Discussion Thread

white sox are 1-1 in the 4th right now. at least Contreras hasn't lost it completly, yet......

time for bed, damn west coast games

Re: Official MLB Discussion Thread

Yankee "evil empire" will dominate again.... as usual. anyone else see A-Rod's grand slam saturday?!?!

he got player of the week, and leads the league in homers.

Re: Official MLB Discussion Thread

So A-Rod is no longer a choker, eh? Interesting...

i just finished "Baseball between the Numbers" and there is a chapter on A-Rod and it shows by the numbers how overpriced he is

Re: Official MLB Discussion Thread

yes, perhaps he is overpriced, BUT, he is a yankee (more importantly he is not on another team), and he is now producing, so all is good.

Re: Official MLB Discussion Thread

The Cubs are failing again. Looks like Lou Pinella is in for a long year, as are all cubs fans. I wonder if he will regret taking this job before its all said and done.

Re: Official MLB Discussion Thread

Sox give up 1 hit and lose. no offense. to good outings from Jose and Danks and they get nothing. sweet

Re: Official MLB Discussion Thread

The mighty tigers win again!

12-5 over Kansas City

the mighty Pudge Rodriguez hitting a grand slam in the first and driving in SIX runs!

Re: Official MLB Discussion Thread

going to the sox game tonight. got some good seats too!

Re: Official MLB Discussion Thread

I think Daisuke is a BUST clearly he has lost two straight games he must be an awful pitcher. I was at the game last night and it was great atmosphere! He really is pretty good though, but last night Chacin was better. And Pena's homerun was massive!

Daisuke is not a bust, the Boston offense is the bust right now. Dice K's two losses have come against Hernandez who 1 hit Boston, and Chacin, who shut them down again. Where is the offense? If Daisuke doesnt throw a no hitter then he loses it seems like. When you give up three hits and K 10 but still lose, you threw a good game. Where is the offense?

Re: Official MLB Discussion Thread

Sorry, I was being sarcastic when I said he is a bust - he is obviously a pretty good pitcher. However, I DO think that Dice-K is possibly the dumbest nickname in the history of nicknames...

Re: Official MLB Discussion Thread

no hitter for Mark Buerhle!!

so happy for him, couldn't happen to a better player and person. he is one of my all time favorite White Sox players
