Was definitely a thrashing mate... not a fan of Williamson's captaincy in the field when we are struggling to get wickets, he goes too defensive minded, instead of making field changes ect trying to create wicket taking opportunities, the bloke needs to be much more proactive in those type of situations.

Captaincy tho does not seem to hamper Williamson's batting. Much like Steve Smith. If anything it improves their batting leading from the front. I was not aware of his captaincy failings Pete as the BCs were so far in front of the game. When is the next match mate.

Was also talking about his captaincy in the field in any test Craig... & that continued again in the 1st test.
Always annoys me that every time our bowlers find it difficult to get wickets Williamson just lets the game drift hardly applying any pressure allowing the opposition to tick the runs over too easily, as a captain in those kind of situations you need to apply more pressure, so vary your tactics to try & get wickets, he just isn't proactive enough.

Gotcha mate. Up to the NZ cricket bosses to move him on if he is not suitable. I guess as long as he is leading from the front with the bat and the team is winning they will keep him.

He's a great batsman mate so has to be in the 11... but we need to change our captain, have to select an incumbent so I'd probably go for Latham as our captain.

Latham eh. Ok. He is probably the second most consistent of the BC batsmen.

Latham has only captained us in a few white ball matches, but he shows good innovation when it's really needed in the field... Williamson shows a lack of proactive captaincy in white ball cricket as well.

I find it hard to grasp why he was given the captaincy in the first place mate going on your analysis of his failings as a leader.

Yeah, can't work it out either mate, it's like they only selected him as captain because he's a great batsman... he comes across as a very reserved type of bloke so that doesn't really help either.

Apparently Watling is fit again, so that's good news Craig, he'll be keeper with Blundell going back to opening... they haven't named the whole squad for the 2nd one yet.

Richie, Williamson is out of the match, so Young slots in at 3.

Ok. Figured someone had to make way for Watling's return with Blundell remaining.

Huge loss Williamson Pete. others will need to stand up. Much like when we lose Smith.. a huge hole to fill.

Mate the Windies need a better tweaker than Chase. If he is picked as a batsman.. with a FC average of @30 I doubt it.. then they need a specialist tweaker and one less seamer.

Pete missed start of match due to mixing up time difference. Bloody dummy. Not a great start by the BCs. Mate tell Taylor to retire. Your bloke Young is still in. Needs to kick on after lunch and play the sheet anchor role.

Not a great start, the wicket should be easier to bat on in the arvo - exactly Craig, time for Taylor to move on... yeah, young needs to get a really big score.
Thought Conway was unlucky to not get a crack in this one.

You blokes have not picked a specialist spinner again. Is the Wellington deck a noted one for spin.. is that the reason. Isnt this ground known as Westpac Stadium Pete.

Wellington' doesn't really get that much spin, the pitch is more about pace & bounce - would've still liked a spinner at the Basin to give our attack more variation... it's crazy though that Santner was selected in the squad as a spinner when he can't even spin the bloody ball.

This ground is the Basin Reserve, it's only used for cricket, has a great atmosphere having the grass banks & trees etc.
Westpac Stadium is more like a concrete jungle, that's where we played the West Indies in those 2020's, also the rugby is played there... recently Westpac Stadium had a name change, it is now called Sky Stadium.
