Pathirana smashes 277 in Twenty20 onslaught

Having just seen the last over from Mascarenhas, this story caught my eye:

Sri Lankan first-class player Dhanuka Pathirana scored a remarkable 277 off 72 balls in a Twenty20 match in Lancashire's Saddleworth League to steer his Austerlands side to 366 for 2 and an easy win over Droylsden. Pathirana smashed 29 sixes and 18 fours in his onslaught.

277 of 72 balls is amazing batting especially as almost half were sixes. The most I've seen reported before this has been around the 150 mark, which hopefully puts this kind of score into context.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone has anything that can beat this?

My mate scored 148 in 20 over game like and a thought that was awesome

Hes not a pro though so it seems ok

Bah, im not overly good at 20/20, much prefer the 40 over stuff, my top score is 97*, i came in at three and im a Bowling Allrounder, but i can slog :D

But that is an awesome effort!

How can you score that much?

He has scored at nearly 4 runs a ball.

that is some tonk batting.
i'd hate to be them bowlers.
i fully crack it if i go over 6 an over.
but 20/20's will ruin cricket i reckon.
and i cant stand bowling in em.
got hit for 23 runs off 2 overs.

What an amazing display of slogging. Although it must take some skill, I love twenty20 but you just need a bit of luck.

wow thats unbelievable... 277 in T20 i think the bowlers must be poor but still unbelivable
