Criticism of him as a tactical captain is, however, extremely justifiable and a completely seperate matter. He's not certainly not the worst one going around, but he's pretty pedestrian. If history smiles on him it will be purely because of his winning percentage, and possibly because Clarke is going to be even worse.
I wish you'd stop conflating the two. I have never, ever seen anyone deny that Ponting is one of the greatest batsmen Australia has ever produced.
