Premier Cricket 2011/12

So, as we enter August, time for a new thread.

Most of the moves listed on the Premier website, but will regurgitate them here for easy reference:

J. Crosthwaite to Camberwell.
Keen to Carlton.
Andee to Carlton.
Crawford to Casey-SM.
Bird to Casey-SM.
Clingeleffer to Casey-SM.
Forsyth to Dandenong.
Howell to Essendon.
Tormey to Fitzroy.
Alleyne to Hawthorn Monash.
Karageorgiou to University.
Henry to University.

Those leaving us.
Hoare.
Gulbis.
Peter-Budge.
Doropolous.
Stray.
Doyle.
Dale.
Walerys.
Dickinson.
Pietersz.
Waterman.
Warren.

So, the issues that the moves raise:

Will Northcote push bowlers from within, having lost their two best quicks, or are they out hunting?
Could be a record breaking year for batsman, with the number of quality bowlers lost (Dickinson, Pietersz, Walerys, Dale, Hoare, Moose, etc.)?
Simon Keen could be the best pick-up of the year, genuinely quality grade cricket player.
Can Crawford get off the medical bench?

Played rep cricket against keen. Bowls 130's so will be quite sharp for grade cricket. Always underachieved with the bat but could quite likely have a similar impact as Theo did last year.

This point system could see some late club swapping as fringe players realise they can't be sqeezed into the side!

Arguably biggest out not listed here is Damian Wright. Massive blow for Casey

WA 1st class player Marcus Stoinis has signed up with the Dragons for the 2011-12 season. Marcus is an right hand opening batsman and right arm medium pace bowler.

The 21 year old Marcus comes highly rated by many sources within Cricket in Victoria and WA and reigning Ryder Medalist Theo Doropoulos who knows Marcus well.

Marcus played for Australia in the World Cup Under 19 competition in 2007. Marcus made his 1st class debut at only 19 in 2009 vs. Queensland. Marcus comes from Scarborough Cricket Club in WA, the same club as Theo.

Stoinis is an attacking opening batsmen who really burst on to the scene around 08/09. Has acheived very little since then has has since had to move to Victoria hoping for greater opportunities.

Don't expect the same performances as doropolous. Stoinis debuted in a very weak WA team and has been a mediocre performer at grade cricket level.

If scoring 558 runs in first grade last season makes you a mediocre performer then I'm all for mediocrity!

The bowler exodus continues. Matt gale leaving the rams for the sunshine coast to play with the scorchers.
The rams will also lose Gilmour returning to Melbourne.

Michael king only played one game last year and this season heads to the parks to play with south croydon.

That's rimgwoods two John scholes medallists and captain all gone.

Enjoyable times taking guard at jubilee park this season for the first tome in awhile.

Which Scorchers team is in Qld? Surely you're not referring to Perth in the Big Bash?

Whatever happened to Michael King? Was a great player a few years back?

And with Tom Stray also leaving, it will be a difficult task for Gavin Kellar first up
There's quite a bit of money in the burbs. Have it on good authority that M.King signed on with South Croydon for 15 g's and is getting $100 per wicket and $10 a run. I'm very jealous, how good would it be to have the cash register go ka ching everytime you did something on the cricket field.

Dream on. MK was an excellent Premier cricketer. BUT he is either a glass full or a glass empty, no in between.

Confirmed
Well, the Hawks really have gone backwards with decisions like that from all reports. There will be a few blokes around the club who wont be happy about that particular decision. Will be very interesting to see how he controls the ego's of himself, Allayne and Sarna. Watch this space!!
