Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies)

Quadrangular series got under way yesterday with West Indies taking on the Netherlands in Dublin.

Nethrelands copped the belting of their life as the West Indies bowlers dismantled the Netherlands batting order before crusing to the paltry target of 81 without losing a wicket.

Here are the fixtures for the tournament,

Each team will play each other once with the winner decided by whoever finishes on top of the ladder after the completion of all the matches.

The second match between Scotland and the Netherlands is well over the halfway point. Ireland won the toss and decided to bat first. They made 8/210 off their 50 overs, Eoin Morgan anchored the innings scoring 51 off 112 balls. A number of other got starts but Kevin O'Brien was bale to make 33 and Dave Langford-Smith finished the innings off with a streaky 31 off just 13 balls.

Mudassar Bukhari was the best of the bowler taking 3/45.

Bukhari is also doing quite well with the bat also as Netherlands are cruising along at the moment. They sit at 1/136 in the 33rd over with Bukhari not out on 70 and Bas Zuiderent on 23 not out.

Kyle McCallan is the only wicket-taker with the scalp of Kervezee.

Re: Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies

Swarczynski falls to Kevin O'Brien for 15.

Netherlands now 4/192 and still need 19 off 28 balls. They should do it but they are taking their time.

Earlier, Zuiderent hit a soft return catch to Alex Cusack and Bukhari was run out for 71.

And O'Brien's over ends up a wicket maiden. 19 needed off 24 now.

Re: Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies

Andre Botha gets a wicket!!

5/195 with two new batsmen at the crease. 16 needed off 18 now!!

Geez, Netherlands are making hard work of this.

Re: Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies

Oh dear, this is getting ridiculous for Netherlands now. G Mol is run out for two coming back for a second run.

3 runs off the over with Netherlands 6/198.

13 needed off 12.

What seemed to be a forgone conclusion is becoming the game of the tournament.

Re: Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies

No runs off the over from Andre Botha so far and we've had four balls.

Stelling on strike, slog it son, you need 13 off frickin 8 balls!!!

Re: Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies

7 needed off the last over, Netherlands are 6/204.

It should never have been this close to start with. Ireland were going through the motions about 40 minutes ago thinking the game was all but gone.

Andre Botha, take a bow, 1/20 off his 10 overs with two maidens in there. Well bowled.

Re: Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies

Kevin O'Brien to bowl the final over.

First ball is a dot, so is the second.

Third ball they scramble a single. 6 needed off 3 .

Re: Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies

You can't be serious, Mol leaves the fourth ball of the over and then can't get a run off the fifth.

With six needed to win off the last ball, Mol crashes it past cover but it is only a four and the Irish win by one run!!!!!!!

Extraordinary game!!! Ireland came back from nowhere and Netherlands choked badly. Very, very poor cricket from the dutch. The game looked to be in the bag but they've snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Luck of the Irish prevails once more!!

Netherlands finish up on 6/209, what a game!!!

Re: Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies)

aahahaha, I can just imagine Billy Stelling wanting to beat the hell out of Mol when he left that ball....ridiculous. Sounds like an exciting game though - is it on TV/SopCast anywhere?

I don't know. I would imagine it would be on TV in Ireland and if you are lucky enough to get it on Pay TV.

I am just following it on cricinfo.

Re: Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies)

Third game is underway with Scotland taking on West Indies.

West Indies won the toss and sent Scotland in. So far, they haven't had much luck due to rain interrupting play.

Scotland are 0/12 in the 3rd over. The rain has just stopped and the groundstaff are trying hard to get the ground to a playable state.

Re: Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies)

After a long rain delay, the players did get back onto the park. The game was reduced to 30 overs-a-side and Scotland made 7/152. Poonia made 40 and McCallum 27 for the Scots.

Fidel Edwards was the best bowler for the Windies with an economical 2/17 off 7 overs. Daren Powell took 2/25.

The Windies target was then bumped up to 165 off 30 overs. Devon Smith and Gayle opened and the first wicket didn't fall till 95 when Smith was dismissed for 32. Then, there was a massive collapse, Morton fell when the score was 120, the first wicket in a collapse of 5/13.

Luckily, Gayle was still there and with Darren Sammy, saved the blushing West Indies side. Gayle finished on 85 not out with Sammy undefeated on 18.

Majid Haq was impressive for the Scottish and picked up 4/28 off his 6 overs. Ryan Watson took 2/21.

The Windies made 6/165 at the finish and won by four wickets with just one ball to spare.

Re: Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies)

The fourth game of the series in underway but at the moment it doesn't look good at the moment.

It is pouring in Belfast and has been raining for over two hours non-stop. Before the rain though, we saw a great bowling effort from the Netherlands after badly choking with the bat yesterday. The Scottish batsmen have put up little resistence and the return of Ryan ten Doeschate to the Dutch side has seen the game fall deeply into their favour.

ten Doeschate has 3/25 and Hendrik-Jan Mol has 2/16. None of the Scottish batsmen have had any real influence on the match and is on of the reasons why they are 5/71.

At the moment though, the forecast is bleak and it may be a while before play starts again, should it start at all.

Re: Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies)

Scotland vs Netherlands game abandoned due to heavy rain.

Ah well, there's always tomorrow's match.

Hopefully tomorrow's game will be as close as the Scotland v West Indies game. Did the West Indies relax in that game or are they just showing their old weaknesses?

They definitely relaxed. 0/95 when Smith fell and then there was a flurry of wickets when Runako Morton was dismissed. They were in a very cruisy position but they had a lapse in concentration and it almost cost them the game. Luckily Gayle was there to save the match for them. Had they lost it could have been a bit embarassing.

Re: Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies)

Raining over there in Ireland currently. Ireland won the toss and elected to bat but so far only 1.1 overs have been bowled with Ireland on 5 runs. Disappointing really but still a possibility of a shortened game.

Re: Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies)

Play back underway, Ireland are 0/6 in the 3rd over.

Due to the rain, the match has been shortened to 33 overs per side.

If West Indies win today they will win the series.

EDIT: Make that 2/6, Will Porterfield edges to Dinesh Ramdin and then Andre Botha plays onto his stumps, both wickets off the bowling of Daren Powell. 2/6 after 3.1 overs.

Re: Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies)

Last game of the series tonight is Ireland v Scotland. Hopefully it will be a good tight game if the rain holds off.

Re: Quadrangular Series 2007 (Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, West Indies)

I just realised that if Ireland win with a bonus point they will finish on top of the table equal with the West Indies. All to gain for Ireland and nothing to loose.
