At last, some innovation from what I'm led to believe is the Eastern CA.
Planning to split a 72 over game into 4 quarters whereby both teams bat for 36 overs each day.
Love this idea, especially in the lower grades.
Quote from the Herald Leader.
Cricketers will need to put in four quarters of effort. ... Seriously, there's a plan to introduce quarters into suburban cricket matches.
Hope SECA follows suit but doubtful they will as it would be too innovative for them. Can confirm ECA have floated this to clubs in the synthetic section and will happen if enough interest from clubs. Will be confined to lower grades, Shield grades as per normal.
Pretty much suggests that they have not picked up a strike bowler, although, they threw plenty $$$$$$$$$$$ at a certain bowler from an opposition club. Refer to the following article.Any word on dirk nannes playing at east sandy?
Pretty much suggests that they have not picked up a strike bowler, although, they threw plenty $$$$$$$$$$$ at a certain bowler from an opposition club. Refer to the following article.
East Sandringham lose Brad Hodge to retirement and will rely on new skipper Brett Hampton and explosive opening pair Mark Devereaux and Guy Martyn to an even greater degree and whilst they put the feelers out for a strike bowler during the off-season they came up empty. Nonetheless they have great faith in the rising talent they have at the club who will be full time players this season so are expecting big things from Jack Munnings, Matt Blunden, Ben Pryor, Tom Yorgey, Tim Edwards and company who all had a taste of senior action last year and aquitted themselves well and opening bowlers Liam Polinelli and Nick Knight have both had full pre-seasons. The Duncan Street pavilion is likely to come down during the season so it could be another difficult year off field for East under new president Kim Pitt.
Only playing 3 or 4 games apparently. Not sure if he will retire each time......They may not need one given Hodge's retirement lasted 0 games.
Some interesting results in week 1 of Round 3 and will make for a fascinating afternoon this Saturday.
Brighton Union have equipped themselves well to the demands of A grade, Bentleigh Uniting have struggled but are in a strong position this week and Le Page have continued on their merry way from last year.
Can somebody please tell me what is happening down at Shark Park? Skittled for 85 against a rather ordinary bowling unit. The last time they went past 200 was back January 2018 and their batting order appears to be all over the place. I wonder if they are a one flag wonder? A heavy loss on Saturday and they go 1 and 2 with 6 to play...
The Uniting coach can't bowl anything !Still a very open start to the season Bumble, its open slather at the moment with the results for this round very important. Union should have beaten ANA and the loss could prove to be costly as they have only 153 on the board against WB, lose this and they'll be back in the lower pack at 1 & 2. ANA should win but are the Heckle and Jeckle at the moment. Washington are hard to get a measure on as you suggest and will lose this one. The panthers will pass Uniting and secure a victory, Uniting's coach seems to be doing his own thing if you believe the rumours about changing to leg spin during the game against Union whereby a few Uniting blokes were not overly impressed and a heated exchange supposedly took place between some players after the game. The red-backs are in all sorts and have lost their sting, it will be a long season for them. Elwood will get better and look a big chance this week to secure victory unless the great Saddam Husain gets going for the machine who also have other good players who are due for runs. Its a good opening for the season with plenty of interest, bring on Saturday.
Straight to the point Turfie, not a wrap for the bloke it seems ?The Uniting coach can't bowl anything !
I hear punches thrown and someone actually got bittern on the leg . FFS it's cricket, not the Southern footy league. It was mentioned on Sunday's radio show, it was between Omega and Hampton Central.
Not a good week for Omega, according to the Wooly Ladder they've been stripped of points in Rounds 2 & 3 for playing an unqualified player. Does anyone know anything about this or have any sympathy?
There was also some incidents in a game between HUCC and the Souva Kings by which one renowned and respected player for HUCC was continually abused and verbally intimidated during his innings. The failure by the souva captain to control his players was also an issue, there will be a written report to the SECA and hopefully an investigation is undertaken. The souva's need to realise that this is cricket and not soccer.Heard rumours of a punch up in lower grades.
Anyone else heard the rumor that lee dawkins wasn't properly transferred to omega in woolnough and now they have been stripped of 12 match points for playing an unregistered player?
