yes it seems. his back problem is why he is only bowling 5 overs.

It looks like whoever sent the "official" cabel out has sucked you guys in a beauty. someone said he wasnt happy with where he was batting. looking at his season, he has batted from 3-6 in the first 5 games.

pretty obvious someone has sucked you in.
 
The end of APW chances with a loss to Willy. Good wins to Bentleigh, Spotty, Yarraville, St Bernards and Sth Caulfield means its very tight at the top. Cant see Bentleigh Or Souths faling out, but the other spots are open.

This weeks local paper in the South has an article with McKinnon skipper Chris Hall declaring Bentleigh are a "monty" to make it through to the grand final, but he tipped Yarraville Club to knock them off in the granny.

South Caulfield vs Yarraville Club should be a cracker.

Sth Caulfield vs Yarraville
As you said should be a cracker. 2 best teams in it IMO. A lot has been written about Yarraville over the years, but rarely have they faced such a test first up in the Semis. Away to a South club, against a vastly improved side. Yarraville has such a formidable top 6, with Ion and O'Keefe reknowned for the finals runs. Baker had a brilliant Gf last year also. Their bowling is not as strong, but big Bronca seems to recover miracuosly for finals and bowl 25+ overs. Oosterhof has taken a few but they fall away a bit. They won't have a problem chasing as their record is outstanding but they will have a problem if they are sent in and Sth Caulfield get a few early.

South Caulfield look a completely rejuvenated side under new leadership from Grey and Clarke-Bruce. They have certainly got their money's worth with a star like Clarke-Bruce. 34 wickets @ 9, strike rate of a wicket every 4 overs, he has taken 2 or more wickets in every game and has given South the bowling depth they have never had. He will need support from Jeffree and co, but South will be confident any score they get, they can defend with his bowling. Their batting has progressively gotten better, with J Pope looking like a great recruit as they lost the young keeper, and the defection of A Russell to the CMCA. Pope's 343 runs and 18 dismissals are very good, but it is the return from injury of Grey (231 runs) and late season addition of Dowling (92 runs and 4 wickets) that has them a slight favourite to win this week. If they do, rest assured it will be defending a 150 score, or 9 down in a nail biter.

St Bernards v Bentleigh
I'm tipping an all South final, only due to lack of depth from St Bernards. Whilst they have performed admirably all season, the departure of leading wicket taker James Stuart will hurt (24 wickets @ 11). Craig Osborne (15 wickets @ 13) hasn't bowled a lot due to the one dayers, but expect him to play a big part at home and a bowl a lot of overs this weekend. He is a star and is St Bernards best chance of winning. Their other Pom, Nathan Hawkes has made a competition high 489 runs but their next bat is the highly talented Chris Spinella with 196. Obviously Bentleigh know if they can get Hawkes, they are in with a big chance.

For Bentleigh, Peter Roach has 358 runs and Chris Hill 200, with batting depth from Seisun, Caravelas and Chris Street. They will be dissapointed with losing the last 2 games and the opportunity to host a crucial final given Melbourne's hazardous weather, but will back themselves in knowing the depth of players is there, they beat St Bernards last time they met, and will possibly have their best bowler, Ryder Medallist Chris Street bowling. Bentleigh by 4 wickets.

Thanks for that comprehensive assessment NCDPP. As I now live in the country, I have little opportunity to catch up with VTCA gossip. Posts such as yours are invaluable for those of us outside the loop.

Can you see anything out of that red eye shining like a beacon out of your banged up face. Perhaps you should try playing for a team of handicapped cricketers.

At least they get there, yesterday they were just beaten by a better side on the day. I am sure they would rather finish in the four not like the Richmond of the VTCA in Mckinnon who seen to finish ninth every year or Port Melbourne who just choke every year.

Having YC at 6 for 131 with what would be considered all the recognised batsmen out one would have thought South should have taken the game but let yet another semi against YC slip away.... Snatched defeat from the jaws of victory!

Wandered down to watch a few overs and it seeemed like there were some words being exchanged both on field and off between supporters and players alike.
 
I too was there for the last 45 minutes of the game. It was a sensational finish. The Yarraville Club lower order played magnificently against some great fielding and spirited bowling. The major problems occured outside the fence, where a Yarraville supporter, who apparently played in their thirds, had a skinful and was completely out of control. The Yarraville blokes tried to calm him down, to no avail. They seemed embarrassed by his behaviour. As one of the South Caulfield players left the field at the end of the game he, not unreasonably, gave this clown a gobful. From what I could tell, the relationship between the two teams, on the ground, was exemplary.

its finals cricket no wonder south cant win one too worried about whats going on behind the fence
