Someone from my club got an e mail this morning from the secretary and one of the points was board positions as there has been retirements, do we know who. Howarth going would be a bonus as he's been there too long.

Do you reckon the South is in a healthy state?
  • Effectively another 2 clubs gone this season – including 1 who won the Senior Division flag two years ago.
  • There is no depth - only 2 grades for a club’s teams lower (below their 2nds) to play – which doesn’t help the bigger clubs who might have more than 4
  • And clubs (not just in the south, despite what is constantly argued) are having issues getting 11 guys to play on the other side of town, which we only do because we’ve done it for 40 years. Lots of things have changed in 40 years!!!

i think VTCA are doing the best they can, but the reality is untill Cricket Victoria step in and restructure all metro turf cricket, any decision the vtca make will dissapoint some. they always make the decision that the majority wanted. Fair enough if the vote on re-structure should have not been made by the clubs, but end of the day its the clubs competition, and the majority i am assuming wanted no change.

Bonus points system introduced into shield cricket..
Only kicks in once u have scored 200 or taken your 5th wicket during the 1st 100 overs of your 1st innings.

Making the figure 100 runs/5 wickets and keeping bonus points available for both innings would remove the need for silly 5 over 2nd innings in our comp but if you had 15 overs left at the end of could be an interesting little 100 run chase for an extra point?

Every ground is a different size with different lengths of grass, whereas at SS level most grounds are quick
