South Africa in England

Re: South Africa in England

Prince batted very well, was impressed with his efforts.

Everyone bar McKenzie & de Villiers sucked balls though.

Especially the captain. :)

Re: South Africa in England

Harper proved once again he is the worlds worst umpire, even worse than Bucknor

Although the more shocking decision was Ambrose and Anderson not even hearing an obvious edge and Smith getting a life, although Billy probably wouldnt have given it

Re: South Africa in England

Yeah, that was an odd decision.

Odd meaning incorrect.

Still, SAf are still there trailing by a shitload.

Re: South Africa in England

Monty doesn't help himself though.

Constantly appealing when it's clearly not out.

The umpires aren't going to take too kindly to it, and when it's actually out they'll just think he's going off on another one of his appeals.

Re: South Africa in England

Slow going on day four. South Africa have really shut up shop, only scoring whenever they absolutely have to.

They've moved to 1/234, Graeme Smith is the out batsman but scored a 100 in doing so. He went on to make 107 before a mistimed pull shot off Jimmy Anderson was caught by KP at backward point. Neil McKenzie has made an agonising 100 off 307 balls but it's been an important innings as he and Smith have put South Africa in a position to force the draw. It's probably one of McKenzie's msot crucial centuries in his test career, Hashim Amla is up to 14 not out, he has looked okay so far but he's given the English fielders a few near misses.

Interestingly, South Africa have faced 90 overs in their second innings at the moment, they could only bat for 93.3 overs in their first innings. What a difference some determination makes.

23 minutes remaining in the day so we won't fit in the last 12 overs to be bowled. South Africa still trail by 112. If they can reduce the lead to less than 100 by the end of the day, they should be pretty happy with their efforts.

Re: South Africa in England

A shocking day but would have been much better if not for harpers incompetence

Re: South Africa in England

At stumps South Africa are 1/242 trailing by only 104 runs. McKenzie is on 102 and Amla is on 20.

Re: South Africa in England

Lucky my foxtel was broken otherwise I would have broken if I had to of sat through that days play. It is a very hard thing to bat all day and show discipline like that but it would of been about as interesting to watch as grass growing

Re: South Africa in England

It would suck to be an English bowler right now, almost two and a half days bowling and 9 more wickets needed.

Re: South Africa in England

Broken fox? Sacrilege.

SAf doing very well, getting behind the ball and playing attacking shots against the bad ball.

Entertaining cricket.

293/1

Re: South Africa in England

This is hilarious, the poms are whining about too many draws at Lords and how they should make it a pitch more suited to bowlers :D

Funny this discussion wasn't bought up when England were batting :D
