Speed - running

Re: Speed - running

well i can quite happily say i dont run anything like that!

is there a special way to run with a 3lb bat liz? apart from dragging it like a log?

Re: Speed - running

The best way to run with any bat is to hold it with both hands; lead hand on the grip, other hand on the blade so that the bat is across your body.

It is important that you do not rotate the upper body when you run... everything should be moving smoothly, forward in straight lines.

If you hold the bat in one hand, you create an imbalance, this not only slows you down but can also cause muscle injury.

Re: Speed - running

thats interesting, might have to give that a try!

i'm sure no one will look at me funny whilst out joggin with the cricket bat!

Re: Speed - running

i'm gutted as i cant find a Chav hat thats big enough for me! never Loose enough!

i despise Hooded gangs!

although i almost ran about 20 over tonight on the footpath on my bike!

although a bat may make them move!

Re: Speed - running

I heard that the calf muscle helps with accelaration. Is this true or am I miss informed? Or is this one of those "Yes with an if"/"No with a but" style questions?

Hmmm! It's definitely one of those... as soon as I figure out which one, I shall let you know. :D

It's not so much the muscle but how you use it. It's all about plyometrics and how you train for it.

Thought it might have been one of those :p

The reason I ask is because of that South African sprinter who has had from the knee down replaced with prosthetics and wasn't allowed to race at the Olympics because it was thought he would have an advantage. I would think he would be at a disadvantage because he wouldn't have all the muscles that the rest of the racers had

Re: Speed - running

Personally, I believe he had neither the advantage nor disadvantage. He had achieved as much, if not more, than the other olympians and should have been given the opportunity.
