Sri Lanka in Pakistan

Finnaly Pakistan will be playing, after a long time and it's against Sri Lanka on the 20th of January. For a 3 ODI's series, Squad is as follows.

Salman Butt

Sohail Tanvir

Umar Gul
Sohail Khan
Misbah Ul Haq

A couple of young guys in the squad and it's good to see the PCB finnaly persisting with them.

It will be a good series as both teams are not at their best, Lanka played mediocre cricket against the minnows, and Pakistan have just come off a lengthy break and not playing any international cricket it can take them time to settle in.

A very short series this one, only three one-day games in total which goes for less than a week.

Saturday 24th: 3rd ODI - Pakistan v Sri Lanka at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore (11:30am local, 6:30am GMT, D/N)

First game is underway.

Sri Lanka XI: Sanath Jayasuriya, Tillakaratne Dilshan, +Kumar Sangakkara, *Mahela Jayawardene, Chamara Kapugedera, Thilan Thushara, Jehan Mubarak, Farveez Maharoof, Muttiah Muralitharan, Ajantha Mendis, Nuwan Kulasekara


Sri Lanka are 0/4 after one over. Suprisingly they've opened with Dilshan to partner Jayasuriya.

Akhtar and Tanvir getting absolutely carted at the moment, Dilshan (36 off 29) has tried to smash everything whilst Jayasuriya (19 off 14) has been a little more reserved but both are still scoring at better than a run a ball.

0/59 from seven overs, last five overs has seen 51 runs scored.

Sri Lanka got off to a very fast start but two wickets from Umar Gul changed that as Dilshan and Jayasuriya were on their way leaving Sri Lanka 2/86. Mehela Jayawardene's poor form continued as he was dismissed for one five balls later giving Rao Ikfikhar Anjum his first wicket.

The fall of Kapugedera at 143 saw a collapse as Sri Lanka went from 3/143 to all out for 219. Iftikhar Anjum was the leading wicket-taker, snaring 4/42 with Umar Gul taking 3/30. Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik took the other wickets with Misbah-ul-Haq combining with Kamran Akmal to run out Mubarak.

In reply, Pakistan have started cautiously and are 0/5 after three overs.

Mubarak's in bad form, average has been very low of late, I think his career average has dropped to about 20 now.

Pakistan are cruising, 0/164 after 36 overs. Run rate required is now at 4.

Manzoor smashes a return catch back to Muralitharan for 83.

1/171 from 38 overs. Salman Butt on 81, will he get 100?

Maharoof gets a late consolation wicket, a fullish ball on leg, Younis Khan is early on the shot and pops a simple catch to Mendis at mid-on.

2/205 in the 45th over.

EDIT: Salman gets his 100, took him 116 balls with 13 fours. That's his 8th ODI century. 2/212.

Pakistan said they had plans to deal with Medis, looks like they may have been on the money. Well, at least in this game.
