Shoaib Malik nudges one to midwicket and that's the game. Pakistan win by eight wickets, Salman Butt finishes 100 not out whilst Malik finishes with 11 not out for his troubles.
Only Maharoof and Muralitharan could manage a wicket for the Sri Lankans. Their bowling wasn't bad but they just had no runs to work with. This was a 270+ pitch and 219 was never going to be enough.
Pakistan take a 1-0 lead in the series thanks to the exploits of Butt, Manzoor, Iftikhar and Umar Gul who all played well today. There were doubts about Pakistan's lack of match practice before today's match but they have thrashed Sri Lanka tonight. The Lankans couldn't get anything going early with the new ball and it looks like they are badly missing Chaminda Vaas. They might have to bring in Dilhara Fernando for the next game as the opening bowlers didn't really threaten Manzoor or Butt all that much.
Man of the Match was Salman Butt. Game Two is tomorrow starting at midday local time.

Sri Lanka going well in game two. They are batting first and are 3/189 after 35 overs. Jayasuriya was dismissed early, hit wicket off the bowling of Umar Gul for 19, Sangakkara was then run out by Gul for 16, leaving Sri Lanka 2/66. Tillekeratne Dilshan and Thilina Kamdamby combined well, putting on 99 for the third wicket before Dilshan was out to Shoaib Ahktar who had a poor start early on. Dilshan made 78 and now Kandamby is 58 not out, Mehela Jayawardene in on 7.

Not sure. The series was organised very quickly so avilability of grounds may have come into it.
Sri Lanka scored 8/290 from their 50 overs. Kanfamby went on to make 59 and Kapugedera scored 44.
Umar Gul was Pakistan's best with the ball, taking 4/58. Tanvir, Ahktar and Iftikhar Anjum all got one wicket.
In reply, Pakistan have made a shocking start and are in big trouble at 3/18 from five overs. Khurram Manzoor was LBW to Kulasekara for one, Younis Khan was bowled by Kulasekara for four and Misbah-ul-Haq edged behind off Thushara also for one.
Salman Butt in not out on 11 and suddenly has a lot of work to do as does the middle order. Malik, Afridi and Akmal all must score runs if Pakistan want to seal the series tonight.

Shoaib Akhtar Should be dropped for the 3rd ODI. He is not As Effective as he used to be in his younger days, I think Pakistan Should pick Saeed Ajmal the offspinner. (He has a doosra)

Yes but I don't think they should replace a fast bowler with a spinner. It is a shame Mohammad Asif is in so much trouble. I thought he bowled well with a good line and length and moved the ball alot off the seam and bowling 145 km/h he was really a handful.

What a shocker this game turned out to be. Sri Lanka batted first and scored 5/309 from their 50 overs. Dilshan scored a magnificent 137 not out from 139 balls, Jayasuriya scored 45, Sangakkara 50 and Kandamby 32.
Umar Gul was again Pakistan's best with the ball taking 3/45 from nine overs. Sohail Khan was the only other wicket-taker with Shahid Afridi getting a run-out.
In reply, Sri Lanka have run through Pakistan's top and middle order leaving them in tatters at 6/23. Kamran Akmal has top score with nine, Extras has second best with Younis Khan on four.
Kulasekara and Thushara have three wickets each. Total devastation here, Pakistan might fail to bat half their innings at this point.
What a shocker this game turned out to be. Sri Lanka batted first and scored 5/309 from their 50 overs. Dilshan scored a magnificent 137 not out from 139 balls, Jayasuriya scored 45, Sangakkara 50 and Kandamby 32.
Umar Gul was again Pakistan's best with the ball taking 3/45 from nine overs. Sohail Khan was the only other wicket-taker with Shahid Afridi getting a run-out.
In reply, Sri Lanka have run through Pakistan's top and middle order leaving them in tatters at 6/23. Kamran Akmal has top score with nine, Extras has second best with Younis Khan on four.

Well, Sri Lanka were way too good for Pakistan tonight, the batting by Sri Lanka superb, Dilshan was fantastic with the rest maintaining a supporting role. The bowling was even better with Kulasekara and Thushara destroying the Pakistan batting card and the game was all over by the 9th over.
Pakistan were terrible, the bowling was ordinary with only Umar Gul troubling the Lankans. To make matters worse, Gul was the only batter to put up any resistence, making 27 batting at number eight. Shoaib Malik made 19 and they were the only two batters to make it to double figures. The next best was Akmal's nine.
That score of 75 was the lowest at Gaddafi stadium too. Sri Lanka won by 234 runs as well, a crushing win.

This is so embarrasing...... Is this pakistans worst lost ever? Yes they haven't played cricket for a long time but still losing by 237 runs is only seen when minnows like bermuda play lanka.
