Hello to all and we hope that you all had a joyous Christmas and a Happy New Year. Amazing, just six rounds left, over the next nine Saturdays before many of the teams will be done and dusted. What a frustrating season this has been. But hopefully all enjoyed the break and are looking forward to some good weather and more importantly some great cricket.

So, sylvestershadow, here are my selections for this round and looking for most of the leading clubs to consolidate their places on the competition ladder.:

North South Group. Round 8. Jan 8th. One-Dayer. Selections Bolded.
Plenty Valley (2-2-2) vs. Kew (5-0-1)
Elsternwick (3-2-1) vs. Kingston Saints (1-1-4)

Preston (0-1-5) vs. Brunswick (4-0-2)
Balwyn (4-0-2) vs. Coburg (2-2-2)
Ivanhoe (1-1-4) vs. Malvern (4-0-2)
Moorabbin (1-1-4) vs. Brighton (2-0-4)

East West Group. Round 8. Jan 8th. One-Dayer. Selections Bolded.
Oakleigh (5-0-1) vs. Mount Waverley (2-1-3)
Williamstown (2-1-3) vs. Werribee (3-0-3)
Melton (5-1-0) vs. Sunshine (1-1-4)
Croydon (4-0-2) vs. Noble Park (4-1-1)
Bayswater (1-2-3) vs. Endeavour Hills (1-0-5)
Box Hill (3-0-3) vs. Broadmeadows (2-1-3)
Yarraville (1-1-4) vs. Altona (3-1-2)

So someone please explain to me how our old man Beshara can shape up to a committee member and still be playing at Ormand?

I thought the local paper said that he was suspended for 20 days and he had to attend a committee hearing to (I assume) decide on his future

Had a look at the ground at 1 o'clock. Outfield dry and wicket good as had been prepared and covered during week for Hatch. Probably too hot for cricket ! Keen to know what conditions were like in the north and west?

So, it's yet another round of 1-Day cricket this week after the washout of the scheduled first day last week. Something that can't be avoided, but makes getting right into the swing of the game a bit frustrating. And with the change in the playing conditions for this round, there are certainly some clubs who will be more favoured than they would have been if it had been a 2-Dayer. But, that's how the ball comes off the bat ! And the change will give teams striving to keep in touch with the leading pack in each Group just that bit more incentive.
Sub-District. North South Group. Round 9. Jan 22nd. 1-Dayer. Selections Bolded.
Coburg (3-2-2) vs Plenty Valley (2-2-3)
Kew (6-0-1) vs Elsternwick (4-2-1)
Kingston Saints (1-1-5) vs Ormond (3-0-4)
Caulfield (6-0-1) vs Preston (0-1-6)
Moorabbin (1-1-5) vs Brunswick (5-0-2)
Malvern (5-0-2) vs Balwyn (4-0-3)
Brighton (3-0-4) vs Ivanhoe (1-1-5)

Sub-District. East West Group. Round 9. Jan 22nd. 1-Dayer. Selections Bolded.
Endeavour Hills (1-0-6) vs Oakleigh (6-0-1)
Yarraville (1-1-5) vs Noble Park (5-1-1)
Mount Waverley (2-1-4) vs Williamstown (3-1-3)
Werribee (3-0-4) vs Melton (6-1-0)
Sunshine (1-1-5) vs Croydon (4-0-3)
Broadmeadows (3-1-3) vs Bayswater (2-2-3)
Altona (4-1-2) vs Box Hill (3-0-4)

Another round of the hit and giggle One-Dayer as the season enters the home stretch with a number of teams staring a barren season unless they can gain the points in this round. With the great weather forecast there should be plenty of action at all grounds - fingers crossed.

Sub-District. North South Group. Round 10. Sat 29 Jan. 1-Dayer. Selections Bolded.

Preston (1-1-6) vs. Moorabbin (2-1-5)
Kew (6-0-2) vs. Balwyn (4-0-4)
Coburg (4-2-2) vs. Ivanhoe (1-1-6)
Malvern (6-0-2) vs. Brighton (4-0-4)

Sub-District. East West Group. Round 10. Sat 29 Jan. 1-Dayer. Selections Bolded.

Damn. Another day's cricket lost to the unhelpful weather. And I wa sjust going to lodge my selections here. Ah well, will wait for next week now.
And on the weather note, a question for all the old Subbies. IS this the worst season for weather interruptions ?
Stay dry and warm everyone.

Jimmy,I reckon there was a season in the early 70's maybe 72-73 that was seriously interrupted but wouldn't come close to this annus horribilus.
Tomorrow in any doubt?
If I have to spend another Saturday with her indoors I'll go crazy

Might have a look at the East/West games,weather permitting of course;
With 4 games remaining the top 2 look set ,with maybe 5 sides after the other 4 spots.
Oakleigh v Sunshine-if outrights were possible in one dayers then this would be one of them, thge Shiners could be back at Dempster Park very early.
Willy v Noble Park[at Noble]-probably the match of the day,Willy have done remarkably well to be in contention playing away every week, however Noble might be a little strong at home, much will depend on the Seagulls skipper who just keeps churning them out.Get along to this one if you can.
Melton v Croydon-another game that could shape the 6,probably the longest road trip in the comp and I'm afraid it could be an extra long one for the Croydon boys, still they shouldn't have to go through it again for another 6 years.
Bayswater v Werribee-hard one to predict, the Bees pushed Oakleigh all the way last game but are inconsistent, will go Bayswater in a tight one.
Box Hill v Mt Waverley-another tough one, maybe go with the visitors with Bartlett due for a biggy.
Altona v Endeavour Hills-look for Altona to jump back into the 6 with a % booster against the hillbillies who have been a major flop since entering the comp.
Yarra v Broady-this mightr look a bit one sided on paper but I'm tipping an upset, going for the Eagles with Love and Thomas in for major contributions.
Don't forget More one dayers Sunday, will look at these Sunday a.m,hangover permitting
