How are all the pre-season's coming along? Any new players on board? Also how are we looking to be playing round 1 on time for the first time in 100 years?
 
Kingston Saints have picked up some new recruits as previously mentioned. 2 guys who played South B1 in the VTCA last season (lowest division of VTCA), two PNG recruits (one of which played Seconds at Airport West in Senior, the top grade). Overall, some good depth players for their ones/twos. Interesting strategy, short term but may result some much needed success there.

they've got 2 poms as well i read in the local paper... from memory they both played ones in minor county or something like that... they are still shit though haha

Can't argue with your comments, we have been ordinary, although the 'they are still shit' will remain to be seen.

Our batting was ordinary last year and the guys we have picked up will add depth. FYI, the PNG who played at Airport West is likley to be replaced by the VC of the national side.

Haha I wouldn't have a clue how you boys go on field I played footy with most of the guys that play at your club was just stirring the pot :)
 
Round one to go ahead boys subject to normal wet weather provisions.
Looks like only seven grounds out,not a bad result,will do some ferreting around and come up with some tips.
 
Yep, was surprised last night at the number of grounds good to go. Croydon main oval out for the season, 2nd ground out until round 5, massive effort for the club, hope it works out for them! A lot of understanding partners putting up wiht Sunday cricket.

Oakleigh and Mt Waverley in City of Monash are both out (both grounds) this week, and with Caulfield doubtful to unlikely, very real possibility of all four games being one dayers on the 15th.

Not sure on exact numbers, but appeared to be an increase in O/S players for the coming year, particualrly from the sub-continent. A few clubs made up to five changes to their First Xi squads so form could be drastically changed from last year.

Yep, you can have Sunday cricket!

Our deck certainly looked OK Tuesday night, subject to not too much rain would suggest we are on!
 
Tough task with some teams not up yet and an influx of new players but heresmy guesses for round one;
Sunshine v Plenty Valley-heard sfa re Sunshine's make up so will assume not much has happened at Dempster Park,the visitors comfortably.
Brunswick v Willy-last years runners up look pretty stable with the Hatch medallist at the helm again,cant look past the Seagulls.
Preston v Melton [at beautiful Maccy Park]-just when you think they can't get any stronger they throw Harwood in,Preston may have improved according to reports but they could be in for a n interesting time if Harwood bends his back.
Werribee v Balwyn-the visitors were ok last year but much hinges on gun recruit Sean Dean,if he gets going the Tigers will get the points.
Kew v Ivanhoe-the home side look way too good with an influx of Premier talent,tipping a Kew v Melton final.
Coburg v Altona-[at Altona] hard one to assess,Altona lost some talent but usually thereabouts as are Coburg who have a similar look about them,maybe playing at Altona gives the A's a slight advantage.
Broady v Yarraville-{at Yarra]-toss up,maybe a new look Eagles side minus Love to kick off with a win.
Things will become a bit clearer once theres a bit of exposed form to work with,good luck to all for a bumper season.

thought you blokes might get a chuckle out of this one... weapons walked out on the club he coached last year and was to this year.. last night.. after recruiting players and everything.. and his going back to willi apparently..
 
Hi All,

We are really trying to push clubs and supporters to get involved wiht VSDCA twitter this season. It is a great way to share milestones, news, and importantly live scores from around the grounds. Already Ormond, Malvern, Caulfield and Oakleigh have active Twitter accounts, if you have one follow @SubbiesCricket, or encourage your club to create an account and send through some scores during the day's play.
It works fantastically well in VAFA footy, would add an extra element of interest to the Subbies this season.
