Subbies 2011/12

Few interesting results over the weekend in the South East.
Brighton had another good win with Jesse Seven making another 90 vs Noble. Elsternwick got skittled for 70 odd against the Oaks. Malvern and Kingston both beaten convincingly at home vs Caulfield and E.Hills respectively. Ormond put in a better show against Bayswater but still went down. Box Hill beat Croydon at home and Moorabbin lost to Mt Waverley at home.

As the ladder stands. Caulfield on top a game clear of Brighton and Oakleigh with Mt Waverley and E.Hills half a game back.

Hoping for a dry week.

ill jump into this.......it definately comes down to culture and who can handle the heat in the kitchen when its game on.....obviously great leaders is what clubs need to have.....ive just recently returned to the comp and from my previous stint imo as a premiership player(i love it) at some point it will be your turn to stand up.......and some teams just dont have the cattle when the team is under pressure to stand up and fight......i know when my club is under pressure there is an aura that others cant match.......win from any position.......

ala melton over the last 5 years........who have set the standard......why great leaders in charge......
Disappointing result for the Seagulls. I would have thought that 80 odd would have been easy meat for them.

Maybe the wind was pretty strong and the Plenty Valley boys couldn't smell the "aura" (or maybe it was the bullshit),

How did you go in your come back match? Perhaps. "handling the heat" whilst attempting to "stand and fight" became all too much.

A bit of friendly advice. try to cut back on the cliques' and "weigh in" when the pressure is truly on maybe a better way to go. But after 11,000 posts, (primarily about yourself) perhaps you got out to a tired shot.

It's been a great couple of weeks for the Plenty Valley boys, they have now "gunned down" both West Group grand finalists.

the wicket was interesting.....looked the goods though scores dont say that......

dissapointing result yes.....we batted 1st.....and to nearly get the chockies with 83 on the board shows we arnt that far off.....

plenty valley have a quality bowling attack imo and should see them finish in the top 6......with ayres and bennett not getting many with the bat with that target it could have been all over within 15 overs if they got going......for them to be 9 fa and in the 35th(last over) just says a little bit about how well our young charges went with the ball in their hand.....

cheers thanks for your advice......!!!!

Bit quiet on here lads. Kew and Plenty Valley flying in the North/West, Caulfield welcoming back Damino looking like they're going to be hard to stop when the whips are cracking.

im trying to ''handle the heat'' whilst ''standing up to fight''..........hahahaha.....pppffftttt

thats 11,001.......;)

balwyn were good in all aspects of cricket on the w/e......lovely ground wicket ok just didnt make enough after being sent in......their attack was steady and id say we gave them easy wickets which slowed the run rate down in the last 10 or 15 overs ......fix this and we win close games not the other way around......again their batting was steady and to get 180 4 or 5 down shows they are a good team.....

young nathan hall having a cracking year to date......good to see

havnt seen the great man get a globe before so lookout whoever we play next!!!!....ivanhoe i think....

It looks like a race in one in this group (at the moment). Caulfield with the pre season pick ups, especially Rob Barlett, were always go to be hard to beat, but now landing Damino just adds that touch of class to the batting. An ageing Malvern look to be struggling and perhaps the run MAY have ended. The Oaks are the interesting ones. I like them as a team and respect them as a club, but their inability to win big games over the last few years has a touch of the "South Africas" about them.

In the Westies, Kews' "guns" are firing and they have smashed all comers, but still haven't met the big kids yet. Sorry, YWL, the Seagulls having lost Speakman and recruited NO ONE, are really struggling and appear to be miles short of the top 4.

The Lions haven't fired a shot and the lack of runs from Kirk and Geisler must be a concern. They will be missing a few this week and Altona must be fancying their chances of a rare victory against them.

You look at Plenty Valley and probably think they aren't as strong as they are performing, but keep chalking up wins.

Damiano adding a touch of class, Caulfield probably had that prior to him returning.

How do you check the ladders and fixtures for the 2020s? Mt Waverley and Malvern with MONSTER scores!!!

The fixtures are on the subbies website, look in the news archive section: link here - http://vsdca.cricketvictoria.com.au/files/Twenty20%20Fixture%202011-12.pdf

As for ladders, these are not published, not sure why, but excellent question. They published last rounds results in full here: you could work out for yourself. Normally don't publish full ladders until just before finals.

Soth East tips:

Oakleigh v Bayswater: Oaks struggling a little, Bayswater getting stronger. Will stick with the Oaks
Elsternwick v Box Hill: Again, Elsternwick struggling, with Box Hill going OK, however, will again stick with the Wicks
Ormond v Brighotn: Improved Ormond effort, but could be in trouble if Seven gets going. Tonners comfortably
Croydon v Malvern: Nethersole back a big boost for Roosters, however, Croydon going well. Roosters in a toss of the coin
Noble v Endeavour Hills: Noble missing Pepe, Hills brought down to earth, the Hills in a close one
Caulfield v Mt Waverley: Match of the round, not only because of the Bartlett factor. Mounties going well but Fields keep pulling players. Caulfield
Kingston v Moorabbin: Saints struggled last 2 weeks and Moorabbin on the board. Saints have a few injuries, hope to get the chocolates!

Oakleigh easily
Elsternwick 2 day team. Should win at home
Brighton more to play for but Hansen big threat
Malvern slow start but class side
Endeavour Hills if in the mood and Evans fires
Caulfield cannot see them losing till finals
Kingston binners depend on too few whereas sainters have added depth.

Quick look at North/West,hopefully not in vain again;
Plenty Valley v Balwyn-home side have to be faves,THe West Indian the key, must be a fair player?
Willy v Ivanhoe-neither side going that well,Sheedy duu for a biggy so Town to win.
Melton v Altona-despite losing one game in 2 years the lions havent fired a shot according to S&w on earlier post, you're a hard marker mate,Melton will confirm they're still the side to beat by belting Altona.
Preston- Broady-both only just going, the visitors in an upset.
Brunswick v Coburg-could be best game of the round, maybe the Wicks at home but with no confidence.
Sunshine- Kew-could be over in a day.
Werribee v Yarra-With Dean starting to fire they might be too strong for a young Eagles OUtfit/
Please dont rain

Not "a "hard marker" PB, just pointing out that up to round 7, not ONE Lions batsman had passed 50 (that was redressed on the weekend with Kirk making 88) and not ONE Lions bowler had taken a 5 fa and STILL THE LIONS WERE IN EQUAL SECOND PLACE.

They will be a scary unit once they get their act together after Christmas. That being said, with Geisler, Harrison and Harwood all missing this game, Altona has their best chance of a win against them for a while. It will be interesting to see what excuses the A's come up with if they fall short next week.

Fair enough S&W,time will tell I suppose
Bit of a shame we wont see Melton or Kew take on Caulfield this year, they'd certainly be worth watching!
Has everyone caught up with Kew 2s v Sunshine?,never seen 500 in a day, anyone there to elaborate?

I played againtst Sunshine's 2's a couple of years ago when a girl played for them who was better than most of the guys. Huge depth problem. Mind you, when Moorabbin were 0/200 at the weekend, we were probably looking at chasing 400!!

Apparently scored 320 after tea...

Who is the rumoured Burger recruit?
