Yep,Clemson,17/146@8,very economical as usual but probably not enough wkts for mine, undisputedly has been best opening bowler in subbies over last 10 years.

Re: subbies season 07/08

Weapons,Clemson's batting 119@59,dont 5think that includes finals,stilla handy bat.
Bucket, agreed Hewett's made plenty but too slow and not a patch on Hodges as a keeper, and no,long retired.

Re: subbies season 07/08

you did say we could debate for ages
ok
any one can stand back to the quicks, trust me.over all runs and wickets will count when the selectors sit down.
personally i reckon the best keeper is the one that has to keep and keep well to the spinners, which i say is conway from malvern

Re: subbies season 07/08

Weapons,Clemson's figures are ok but dont stack up with either Beshara,Ayres or Harrison if you're looking at the allrounders spot.
Bucket, agree with your logic,my question is why didn't you opt for Conway in 1st place? Dont think i've seen him play so cant comment.Farrow from Box Hill fits that criteria, keeps to offie Blake and is very tidy, handy with the bat also, actually smashes it but a bit hit and miss.

Agree with you that it would be a fair batting line up. Blake up a spot from last year i think. Hodgey not quite the batsman he was 4 yrs ago but will no doubt be back to his best soon, he is the only person i have ever seen take A.Blake down with suck clean hitting.

i like the team that has been suggested, but i would swap brown with connell unless they dont pick a geniune opener then i would pick lawrence.

Yeah that was a fair innings on a track that was doing a lot. He made batting look easy that day..

I would have to agree with you there.
Those stats are undisuputed.
Hodgey is a freak keeper and kept very, very well in the grand final but this year he didn't do enough with the bat to get in the team of the year.
He is devastating when he gets going but i think he only got one score over 50 and that was a 70 odd against Sunshine and we all know where they finished up.
So i will go with you there bucket head.

Can't fit Clemo into that side dogga.
Blokes like Ayres, Blake and Goodwin got well over double the wickets Clemo got.
On his day he is right up there with Blake as the best bowler in the comp, but he no longer is the best over the length of a season because of injuries and so forth. But you would love him in your side because he can pull something special out like on grand final day, but no not in the team of the year.

1 suprise in my team of the year.......

here we go batting order

ferguson
lawrence
SHEEDY(c)
craig
barttlet
pradeep
HODGES(keeper)
aryes
CLEMSON
a.blake
dale
12th man goodwin

no spinner who needs 1 when you've got that much variety......if i had to pick a spinner for the team of the year chuck in goodwin take out barttlet.......no offence but his on field efforts against us in the semi were terrible....dissapointing from a great player.......

Mate you have to have a spinner.
This is where the Williamstown team lacked something and it was a spinner.
Every side needs a spinner i don't care how good you are.
You always need variety and Goodwin must get a birth infront of Dale.
Ayres is a fair number 8, he scored a ton this year.

Also i totally agree with what you say about Bartlett.
I watched both days of that game and he walked to the crease with a certain arrogance and got a ripper nut from sheeds and that was it for him.
He might as well have stayed home the 2nd day of that game.
He missed the warm up, didnt arrive till about 15 mins before starting time and looked like he didnt care out in the field and thats shit from a player as good as he is.

I hear he is going back to district next year anyway.
Wants to get back on the good decks was what i heard.
So another player gets there money and POQ's from Sub District cricket.

Re: subbies season 07/08

Has anyone heard of any retirements in the league?
The only one i have heard a whisper about down at Williamstown is long time 1st XI player Adam Vincent is giving it away.
He played for over 10 years in the 1s and has captained the 2s for the last couple of years.
If he does hang up the spikes lol i wish him all the best.
