If the salary cap comes in, how will Brunswick be able to justify they are under the cap? Consider the poaching nature of the club, there would have to be some serious questions asked. Not sure that situation could be swept under the carpet. Anyway, their culture of choking continues despite the big bills being paid

If Caulfield lost Rummans, that would make sense that they could be under cap.

Been a while since we have had a new member from the ''other side of town" and very welcome given we in the North and the West are in the minority on this site. The $64,000 question is how can a salary cap be effectively policed? How can clubs be prevented , say, from having two sets of books so to speak and all the other artificial arrangements to make it appear the salary cap is not exceeded? Occasionally, a disaffected player in the know at a club may spill the beans to authorities but, having regard to the player payment restrictions in force prior to the introduction of the player points system, this will be a rare occurrence.

This is spot on. Maybe a few more $$$'s onto the $64k that Brunswick are forking out. In terms of spilling the beans, surprised more didn't come out from Ryan Fort. He showed some class. Anyway, clubs will be keeping there prized possessions away from the Brunswick table at Van Holten Medal night as this appears to have become the recruitment drive night. If the story is correct, Forty was being put in the lift by one board member while the others circled Pearson.

No apparent ties to Ormond so it's fair to assume he has gone there for coin. At his age, and with his record at Premier level, I think they will get a good return on their $$$.

Baxter is a decent player. He will compliment Bird well. Dare say the pick up so far is Shellie. Anyone who plays like him can win games off their own bat. You would suggest he will be able to bring players with him. I am also hearing Brighton are out there throwing some big numbers at players. No success yet but its only a matter of time. Wonder if clubs like Kew, Ivanhone and Preston will keep up the pace and try and recruit after disappointing season? I had heard Kew were looking at McNally with the Graham connect to Prahran.

McNally playing ECA with Mont Albert.
Kew will most likely get Sartori or Chakley from Monash!!

Wow! That would be a serious batting line up. Weeks, Wildsmith, Chalkley/Sartori and Chamberlin. They could bat teams out of it on that flat track at Kew. I did read Kelliher has retired. Might have to get them on the devils deck at coburg to sort them out!

someone explain to me how jones from oakleigh doesn’t even make the south team of the year?
He was in the convo for toty in general. King 25 wickets shimmin 29 wickets Jones 36 wickets. Had the same stats as Brennan who made team of the year. Outrageous

24 wickets for home and away rounds, came in 8th of all bowlers in the South

That's deliberately misquoting stats there NCDPP, if you are only counting H&A fixtures, which is moot as the TOTY are picked including finals, then Jones from Oakleigh finished 5th in the South group, behind Thorne, Bird, Shimmin, Splatt. Just for comparison, King who was named in the South group, finished 15th of the South group bowlers in the H&A with just 18 wickets. By far his best performance of the season was in the Semi-Final.
The non-selection in the South team was a farce and the seelctors should be disappointed that they haven't done the job justice. That said, no complaints with the TOTY XII, a very strong side.

Some interesting rumours coming out of the night. Wonder if anyone heard about some of the new recruits expected by a couple of the bayside clubs. Very Interesting.

Good night! Enjoyed Swampy.

Not deliberate, filtered on My Cricket for non finals and saw Jones on 24 wickets, in 8th of the South/West (was including West). Apologies for the confusion.
