Super Eights standings

Okay, these are the possible Super Eights standings, assuming these are the teams that advance. With any luck though, an upset or two will happen. But for now, these are the early projected standings.

Wow, this table just changed significantly today!
Interestingly, there's now less results on it than there were yesterday! :eek:

Pakistan is definitely out.
India still have a chance to sneak in ahead of Bangladesh, but I'd say that Bangladesh hold the upper hand for now.

Looking at the table, I think the best possible result for Bangladesh would be for India to smash Sri Lanka by 150 runs. That would likely mean Bangladesh and India advance from that group, and Bangladesh's win over India would count in the Super Eight standings!

So far (and i know it is early days still) this has 2 of the underdogs through. Wouldn't it be great if Kenya could manage it as well to have Bangladesh and two Associates in the final 8.

I myself would love to see this happen, and if it does, this would be an inspiration to the other associate teams for the future.

All of this awsome excitement and the USA has been banned from competition. I still can't believe what a disgrace USA cricket has become. At least my surrogate team, Ireland, should experience some future benefits.

Let's hope that they get themselves organized and be reinstated by the time the next qualifications come around.

Looks like the first two matches should be great, as those could easily turn out to be the 4 semifinalists! Whoever wins those first two matches will already have one leg in the semifinals. It's nice to start off with 2 big matches like that. Well, three in fact, as that third match between New Zeland and West Indies could very well turn out to be for the fourth and final spot in the semifinals when all is said and done.

yep, i think australia, new zealand, south africa and srilanka will reach the semi final and the weather could play a vital role in some crucial matches :(

Well, so far, Australia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and South Africa are looking very strong. It would really make this tournament a little more interesting if one of those top 4 teams would lose to one of the bottom 4. (And even though you see England ahead of South Africa on the table, it's just because England has played Ireland, while South Africa's two matches have been against Australia and Sri Lanka so far.)

Finally, one of the bottom 4 teams beat one of the top 4 teams. Will England, West Indies, or even Bangladesh be able to capitalize?

South Africa are really lucky that they hung on to beat Sri Lanka by one wicket!

By the way, before anyone writes off Bangladesh, their 3 losses have been to Australia, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand, the top 3 teams so far. Their remaining matches are against England, Ireland, and West Indies. And even if Bangladesh doesn't win those, then the other team will win and put some pressure on South Africa for that last semifinal spot.

So there still might be a bit of drama to come in this World Cup.

Each team has 3 games left. The game between South Africa and West Indies today is obviously huge. If the South Africans can win, they'll firmly re-establish themselves as being in the top half of the table. They could still be caught, but whichever team gets the 2 points today should be very happy.
