The Serious Discussion Thread.

Chinah would now like to cuddle up more trade wise with Australia and other new trading nations because of the Frankenstein tariffs put on them by the wannabe US genius.
Didn't China 🇨🇳 put their own draconian tariffs on us recently when Morrison put his gumboot in his mouth. We found new markets which annoyed China pointing lots of fingers from their attack dogs.'RIght back at you shysters.
I remember but believe China did learn a good lesson about the repercussions of tariffs affecting the instigator the most.
Duh! Economics 101. Our gorgeous pristine export Lobster trade with China a big loser. For all but common folk like me.
Anyway, in China's search for new markets our Australia will get even cheaper products from China. Nice. 😀 😃 They're selling us good ev's and hybrid cars at great prices now which may get even cheaper. Thanks for that Donald. 👍Buy Chinese and sava da money ! ! 🤙🗽💸They'd like that with a nod n wink. 'Art of the deal!?' Not! 🤪
Free markets are essential for intertwined global economies Imho. Crikey, Musks Tesla chain involves manufacturing in various countries, now under Trampling Trump's Tariffs.
With his coffers leaking fast Genius Musk U turns like many others 😂
The bromance is starting to sour, and a spectacle not to miss. Popcorn is now 145% dearer.

A nice bit of news is that our Australia has lots of those rare Earths sort after lIke the ones in Ukraine Trump and Putin want. 🤫
China has it's own rare earths and Russian conquered Ukrainian provinces similar ..... 💸
More mining wealth as the Lucky country. 😁 Especially my WA with more naval bases etc... for US and Aussie forces and precision manufacturing already for our huge mining sectors and ship building Industries 🤫 ...
Would Trump put tariffs on our Rare Earths?? 🤣 please do! South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, the EU, Vietnam and China even would like to buy some of our dirt by sea. Iran??? India? Russia??? ...sorry, girt by sea .., 😆

Sublime to ridiculous. Pathos is the word I think?

This is how I make my cat eat slowly:

A 3D puzzle needing contemplation followed by repeated actions

😂 $10 and well worth it. Some one should get Trump the human equivalent . 🤭

Just as well Morrison showed some balls as it made us step away from those Commies and seek out alternative trade partners. Showed them that they can not bully us too. Today we as a nation can stand prouder than we did pre Covid. Only problem for us now is the wannabee dictator in the White House.

Putin and Trump are making dangerous bedfellows. When a journo asked Trump what he felt about Russia killing children in a playground, the first words by the senile old fart were ''oh he (Putin) made a mistake'', not something like " oh that was terrible''. Again he has blamed Zelensky for starting the war.

I hear the moarnfull Cries of those who say Zelensky started the War. Lots of past tensions too and connected things,.. .for sure, but lots of grey areas too.
Total Rot I say for calling Ukraine the aggressor, like Putin's lying blather about
Special Military operations ... recognising Ukraine as a Sovereign state. 2004 I think?
Ukraine gave up/decommissioned all its Nuclear Weapons arsenal for recognition of its Sovereignty.
The usual bs and lies spin that two of my pool crew like.., 😒
I try to keep the subject off the table...
Sorry, no more metaphors, my lips are sealed.

Good grief,

Trump is now having a fight with Harvard University for ignoring him and not adopting his ideologies and biases. Blah, blah, ...
What's next, imprisonment of people wearing glasses?

The good news is that as almost nil Chinese exports will go to the US, their prices will most likely lower elsewhere. Like EV's, ...

The Commies will flood the market with EVs. Do we want that? There is one Japanese car maker, Toyota that is now going big on hydrogen fuel cell engines, some three years after our CSIRO test drove one here.

It's almost impossible to not buy Chinese products Craig. I avoid them as best I can, likewise US products too now with Trump and his gang.
I'll stick with my Toyota or a S Korean car. Hyundai is a good brand nowadays. Kia too.

Chatting at an auto shop recently the Manageress said the batteries in an EV clag out with diminished power after ~ 7 years. She also talked about the carbon footprint of EV's battery's production and disposal ... I listened but her business slants her perspectives I bet.

My 16 yo Corolla runs really well; I put 98 unleaded into it for its engine cleaning effect adding to its longevity. I get about 7L/100km.
I don't drive much and It's only done 73k kilometres, in 16 years!
My motorbike has a really incredible fuel efficiency at ~2L/100 km. My 15 L tank gives me a range of 750km. Amazing! 350cc with good torque for city traffic.

On the Trumpling carnage in Trumpland I see globally renowned US Harvard University is now in Trump's sights recinding a $2.2 billion grant, for being Woke (?). Whatever, Trump loves bullying on the slightess slight. He also says he loves uneducated people to a chorus of applause from his most faithful.
What next, persecuting people who wear glasses?
"They dont know nothing!"
Pol Pot was an anti intellectual too.

That was a very interesting U Tube clip, thanks Craig.

I love the eco friendliness of those Hydrogen fuel cars, but would like to see how they take off. Agreed they can be refuelled quickly like our petrol, but that needs a big infrastructure upgrade I reckon? There's none of that in Perth apart from several buses I recall.
I may never need another car anyway but would like to see those hydrogen fueled cars take off, it being a very green solution. 💚 water fumes only.
Also, how safe is a tank of Hydrogen? It must be at least excellent surely?

Regardless, self interest comes to the fore as I approach my dottage, and experience tells me not to jump in too soon with new models. On the clip they said how Toyota had to further strengthen the pistons ... OK, let's see how that goes ... I once bought a Ford Facon EA model, the first in a new series of big family cars.... Nice but a nightmare of the model's teething issues. A real Lemon.
So, I'll keep my rock solid 1.8 L manual 6 speed 2008 Corolla as long as I can.
Best Car I've ever ❤️ owned in fact. It'll outlast me I bet.

Lots of protests are happening now in the US decrying Trump's over reach in so many things. Mass sacking's, Gender backsteps, ... One US Politician said something about removing him from office. 🫣
Impeachment? I'm not sure if it's possible but just to hear the suggestion shows how Trumpland is going off the boil. Good! It's a red boil on the planet that needs bursting.Yuk!
Commentators now use terms like Autocracy, Police State, 🚔 and much worse.
Well, he was elected with great numbers, reflecting the will of the US majority... then.

Will we see strategic US military exercises about Greenland, and/or Canada, Panama, Taiwan, South China seas, Guam, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Australia ... .?

Actually work is ongoing supporting US naval assets along with maintenance and fine manufacturing 😊 in my Great State of WA. MWAGA! 😗🥱
That's fine by me, and hopefully concerns the Chinese spy ships circumnavigating our Australian island Continent recently sussing out our under sea cables with submersible SPY drones ... Still, we can track them which we need to do better at. Good practice for us too ... and hassle them like they do to our planes on international waters.
We should get our own deep dive submersible drones too, equipped as required. And train killer Sharks, ... 😂
Most deep underwater drones, I assume, would be controlled by wires given the water environment. I'm not sure. Quantum radios??

What if the Chinese Spy ships accidentally found the remains of the mysteriously lost Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 plane suspected to be off my states SW coast. 🫤 A tragic story and mystery.
And a brief moral quandary for the Chinup Chienese Wannabees no doubt. "We don't not know nutthing!, No No we weren't there with our superior sensing spy ships, honest to noodle... "

and,

Will Russia really seek airport facilities in Indonesia? 🤧🤔🤫🫣🫢🤭?

Plenty to ponder Terry. And since Trump was re elected your verbosity on the matter has never been better, That is not a critique either.

I reckon being retired gives me time to take in existential global issues. Why not, at such a watershed time in global affairs. My ABC radio and TV news chatters away to me all day long.
I early voted today for our Federal election on May 3rd.
It seems my Western Australia is still pro Labor thanks to Clive Palmer and Mark McGowan's battle to shut our Covid borders.
Palmer wastes his political funds in my state, we remember what he did. Karma.

Listening to the big debate now on ch9 between Tony and Peter, they're nicely showing Bipartisanship on some vital issues, or close to. The moderator is doing a great job too.
I have a big political sign on my front lawn, at the entrance to my long Cul-de-sac. My advertised candidate is a tall tough blonde lady who rides big mototorbikes.

I just got pushed out of Cowan to now the federal electorate of Hasluck. Fair enough as it was to create the new Federal electorate of "Bullwinkle". OK, but what a name, so yarning to a fellow at the voting booths today he recalled for me the courageous actions of nurse and later matron Bullwinkle during WWII. Sole survivor of Japanese soldiers pushing captured nurses into the sea and machine gunning all but one, her. Nice to know.
