From all accounts they still rate there batting attack.. The loss of love and brohaska has hurt but they have added shaun dean and have got travis dean aswell to go with russ, lindsay, geisler, green and sandri. The key factor is lindsay not making runs.. Last year he was very good and this year he has not fired at all.
Mind you, the year that they finished top, Lindsay didn't fire a shot with the bat, but took a heap of wickets. Especially with the loss of McCammond and Duckworth, reckon they'd want him fit and firing with the ball more than the bat at this stage.

Even if lindsay did fire with the ball, I cant see that team doing any damage at all. Its all good and well having pressure from one end but in the end, they just dont have the cattle to be able to make a difference.

Quite interesting that there batting has not been great and a young kid in the 2's made a 90 not out and a good 25 on a bad deck last week and he cant get a game...

Massive questions need to be answered down at the kennel in relation to which direction they want to go!!

Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10

I think that kid you're talking about hit close to 50 earlier this year as well.
From what I keep hearing I think it helps to have one particular surname down at the doggies

Dylan Kight is the kid and he has had a fantastic start to the season with 161 runs at 80 but you would think he would need at least 8-10 games at that level before coming up seeing that he has only played subbies cricket up until this year. Remember it took Travis Dean 14 games of consistent performances last year before he got his chance.

Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10

at dandenong theres a 17 year old thats played about 10 games in the ones now and has been taking wickets his name is james wilcock. also in the twos there is another 17 year old called ben hillard who has been making runs aswell this year both of these two should make the vic 17s team

Evan made a fabulous 160 against fitzroy in the semi, with out a doubt besst 1 day opener in the country outside a the contracted bats.

would have to think he has the results in that form to nudge out a blizzard or finch. but knowing the vics mick hill would be in front of him.

would not even matter if he got a gig in the ones. He would be a specialist number 9 and maybe pushing 8 if hastings does not play..

Can't take too much into one day cricket but i guess it will all take shape at the end of christmas with the 2 day games.

No big shocks with the top 4 and i guess they may aswell play the one day finals now!!

Maybe essendon and northcote are the 2 that stand out as being a suprise and probably Geelong and Frankston are the disappointments.

Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10

Essendon had to cash in whilst Rogers was playing consistently, and did so; one of their losses was by one run too. Northcote endured a similar start last year, now the ball is in their court to continue on winning in 2 day cricket. Also have a very good record against St Kilda, even when the Sainters were in their prime.

Frankston have always been better in the longer stuff, that's where they won all their games last year.

Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 09/10

Hopefully Prahran has the culture to pull him into line. Very talented cricketer with more to learn than most.
