Re: VTCA Thread

one dayers bring the gap between clubs closer...as Chelsea showed last year by beating Yarravile.should be an 8 over bowling limit in 40 over games....or atleast a max of say 12.

underarm bowler, that is true
40 overs each team, u can get away with bowling 3 players or even 2 in the innings,
international cricket, 50 overs, 10 overs max
40 overs, should be 8
makes it a bit more interesting when the captain has to throw the ball around a bit rather then have two main men rolling the arm over for the whole 40 overs

From watching the test match last night I noticed that the umpires called stumps after Clarke was dismissed from the second ball of the last over of the day. If that happened in the VTCA would the next batsman have to play out the last over or would it be called stumps? What's the rule?
Cash Man the rules provide as follows:-

M2.10 On each day of play of a two-day match, play shall cease once the requisite number of overs for that day have been bowled. If necessary play shall continue after 6:00pm until the required number of overs have been bowled.

M2.11 Regardless of the number of overs to be bowled for the day, if play is not taking place at 6:00pm, or is interrupted after 6:00pm other than for a change of innings, then play for that day shall cease.

M3.1 All 1st and 2nd eleven Two-Day games shall commence at 1:00pm (12 noon in finals) and shall cease once 80 overs (85 in finals) have been bowled on each day of play, except as provided for in these Rules.

As Dizzy notes, a player would have to come out and bat.

8 overs sounds fair in theory/ when all things being equal. But the facts r that most clubs if not almost all have limited bowling depth, hence rely on a couple of blokes to bowl majority of the overs, even during 80 over games.

So considering that 8 max overs is very harsh. 12 -15 maybe could be considerd as max overs allowable per bowler.

HAving said all that i don't reckon VTCA will such changes anytime soon.

yeh fair enough
but that'll make it more interesting, because it isnt that fun when u have two guys clicking over the k's and just bowling maiden after maiden
it'll make the team have to dig deeper
maybe even 10 overs each, thats 4 bowlers
and true! they wont change it

warney if we did that then captains would have to think outside the square and be creative! I think it would be the best thing the VTCA could do as it rewards the side that is the most flexible. I guess bowlers could argue that batsman need to retire at 50:eek:

Re: VTCA Thread

8 overs per bowler would be a great idea........even the umpires in this comp could manage to monitor that !!!
Bring in a 30m circle and that would throw most of them......

hahaha
yeh i spose thats fair enough :p
exactly, because if the captain or coach really wanted to they could have 9 batters and 2 bowlers, have 2 bowlers bowl the whole innings, which wouldnt be smart, but could be done :p
and i guess ur right with the retiring thing hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Re: VTCA Thread

No you goose.

read the permit list he is with AWSC.

We have 1 OS player and 1 Paid Professional, how do fit in another permit player in our first XI. Playing T Jeffrey in two's for Asif Jan, not likely.

Re: VTCA Thread

Interesting results in North A Guru!

Should we just put it down to being one day matches.

Apologies to the elite of the senior division, if I making reference to matches played in the North A ahead of your premier divisons.

How is Altona North looking this year? New skipper - any other new blood?

Can they mix it with the top 4 or 5?

I doubt it. they are too busy crying in there soup about all the money being spent on players not registered as pro's. Solution to the problem? Produce dodgy wickets for the granny. Alah spotswood 07/08 granny. Looser 50,000 dollars down the toilet.:D

Yeah Guru wher'e all waiting for your dissemination of the events over the week end. Although to be fair you did say you would have an anology for us after round two. We wait with interest and intrepidation for your predictions.O nostradamus.

Saw old man Emu matty Albers took five for off 18 overs over the week end. Musta damn near killed him. there's life in the old boy yet. Wonder how the hammy is? Where do you think A/Park will be?;)
