Rashid bounced back from headlines describing his first innings nought for 163 as England’s worst Test debut ever to bowling his team almost to the verge of one of their most remarkable wins in Asia. He also ended a 66-year wait for a five-wicket Test haul by an England leg-spinner and repaid the faith of coach Trevor Bayliss, who has backed Rashid to be a star from the moment he became head coach of the side earlier this summer.

Personally I think Rashid more than jusitfies his place in limited overs cricket where players will look to go after him and where his 'natural' variation can help keep batters guessing, but I think at test level where batters can take their time and just milk the bad balls he is still not accurate enough unless the batting team have a bit of a brain freeze (Pakistan 2nd innings)

Instead, Collingwood identified Rashid as a possible game-breaker for England. The Yorkshire leg-spinner has been England’s leading wicket-taker in white-ball cricket over the past year, and has just returned from a successful stint with Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash, where he was the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament. “On subcontinent wickets, you’ve got to do something different,” Collingwood said. “People who can turn the ball both ways are like gold-dust. In Adil Rashid, we do have that in our armoury now, which we didn’t have in the past. He has been exposed to some very high-pressurised cricket recently, and come out on top as well. He’ll be a huge factor for us.

He's improved a lot and hopefully England will look to use him in tests.

Main issue in India could be his much maligned pace through the air, Indian pitches tend to be slower so the slower the bowler the easier it is to adjust.

Here's hoping he gets it right and makes an impact, watching quality legspin in T20 makes for great viewing.

England have done the right thing by not caving in to the pressure imo. Rashid lacks the control and he's a bit slower than Moeen. You can get away with it in the white ball formats because batsmen are obliged to go after him and he picks up wickets but in tests it's easy to milk that type of bowling.

Having seen how poorly Shah has been at Old Trafford, he's probably had a bit of an escape, although with all those runs on the board he'd have been under a lot less pressure and could have gone for a fair few and still been okay. Be interesting to see what England do in the next test.
