It's possible that Burnside may get up against St Andrews.
While we were playing against them last week I thought that they will be competitive in most games this season. To their credit they had some flat spots out in the field but were able to build on momentum once they got a wicket. Admittedly I think that the outfield had slowed up due to the rain and some of the shots Dan Temby hit would have been 4 on most grounds and if that were the case we would have passed them comfortably, but they played with great belief and spirit. I know that some may say that St John's is reliant on 2 or 3 players but I also think we had a fairly average week and let our guards down a little, expecting to win easily considering the 2 results we had beforehand.
We can all make excuses though can't we?
All I can say in the end is that it's good to see healthy competition at turf level, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.
P.S. Has anybody had Ken Barradale umpire before? Interesting proposition if he's umpiring Burnside....Be warned!

All i can say is "look out"

You'd think that three of the four games are definitely very much even and could go either way. If Wayne was playing, i'd rate Burnside an even chance (though St. Andrews wouldn't have made it that far with him bowling), but without him counter attacking in the middle order, they're starting from too far back.
The new deck at Pennel is a beaut both ways, it's just a pity about the beach of an outfield. Definitely seemed to have a bit in it for any bowler willing to bend their backs, which should favour us a little. Centrals attack wasn't hugely threatening, we just got ourselves out after making good starts- ah well, making improvements as a team. I think we've finally shaken our penchant for collapses. Now we've just got to build on turning those starts into significant innings. Playing on the deck at Pennel instead of St Pauls or Angliss would definitely help, haha.

Solidindefence;282450 said:turn it up, youd have better success playing on a cabbage patch than that wicket!

Pots;282703 said:are u serious or rehearsing out for a stand up routine? twice this year played there, terrible incosistant pitches, fantasic if ur a bowler- IM DEFINATLY not complaing! good to see caroline.s & roosters #2 posting competive scores, once you close to 180+, u always in the game. well done to the talcumed powdered luke niemi, great knock hopeforly gets a chance higher up, young man can play, didnt look like going out to teeing off with 3 overs left. st.andrews hot right now, would of liked to see what they would of made had chafer not get 6 fa . im backing congs to fight back this week & make it a close game either way, they can defend that total. bring on happy- will get 5 fa this week m8.

If thats the case then no wonder they are refusing to play. I know it costs money to run these association carnivals, but $500 per player is very steep. Guys will have to give up work as well to play therefore foregoing more money. I think Gookey needs to come up with another plan if they want the best players to play. Best side would be
1. M Hayes (Melt Cent)
2. L Edwards (Melton South)
3. D Temby (St Johns) - C
4. H Upal (Willy Congs)
5. M O'Toole (St Andrews)
6. C Armstrong (St Andrews)
7. A Spitiri (Burnside) - WK
8. M Callus (Willy Congs) - VC
9. M Upal (Willy Congs)
10. R Schaefer (Burnside)
11. J Draper (St Andrews)
12. W Keiley (Burnside)

Pots;282969 said:what other wicket are you talking about?, clearly if its a "other wicket" to the one we played on last game where 36 wickets fell in 2 days, dont care who was batting, (on ave 1 ball every 1 to 2 overs maximum was either rolling through or bumping through off a good length) then if its another wicket, then perhaps it plays differently. surprise that.
