What Other Sports do you play?

Re: What Other Sports do you play?

I would like to say I play AFL, but the fact of the matter is when sign up comes I'm just to lazy to. Its a shame as I love playing for fun. Oh well, there's always next year... ::)

I used to play indoor soccer (goalie) and I play at lunch time with my mates, but I just got tired of getting flogged every game :p

Re: What Other Sports do you play?

I would love to play AFL but I'm just not fit enough or strong enough, shame because I love it.

Re: What Other Sports do you play?

Thats pretty much my thinking. Oh well, I'll just have to play when I warm up for a net session with my mates

Re: What Other Sports do you play?

In a word yes but not as expensive as you might think. There are 10 different classes of cars in Autograss. We had 2 class 1 Minis £800/£500 to buy ready to race. Juniors 11-16 can only race class1 (very little tuning allowed) so my daughter and I shared 1 car and my wife and best bud shared the other. Keeping them running is the problem so much time and effort, but the buzz is indescribeable.

i love the oldschool mini's! still somrthing about them! although i cant say i'd drive one on the road! not much protection from the 4x4 chelsea tractors we get over here ;)

Re: What Other Sports do you play?

All the soccer players on here seem to be goalies - must be the crossover with cricket fielding :D

I've been doing tai chi for a few years, but it's starting to slide now with all the time I put into cricket. I don't really play any other sports except for fun, maybe table tennis if I can find someone to play with. Having said that - most people here in Ireland don't even consider cricket to be a real sport - "5 days standing in a field - you're having a laugh". Though this is because it's not common here and people don't understand what goes into it :(

Other than that, a bit of poker and darts on occasion.

Nah, I'd say it's more that goalkeeping fits in quite nicely with the cricketer's most base desire, which is to stand around watching everyone else do the hard work and shouting at everyone else when it all goes wrong. ;)

 Classic.
Although they say you have to be a bit mad to want to be a goalie, maybe it's the same for cricket? You know, standing in front of a rock that's travelling at 90mph and NOT trying to avoid it?

Re: What Other Sports do you play?

try being a wicket keeper! they come at you every over ! 6 times and sometimes more!

more work than a goalie playing in goal for Westbrom vs Man U!

Re: What Other Sports do you play?

A question for all the goalies... pure curiosity:

If you were to take up a musical instrument, would it, by any chance, be the drums?

Re: What Other Sports do you play?

 I live with a drum playing goalie. Must try to get him playing cricket!!

Re: What Other Sports do you play?

To answer your question Liz, no!

I play guitar and a little bit of Piano, but have nowhere near enough rhythm to play the drums!
