Who replaces Hayden?
Who replaces Hayden up the top of the order?
Candidates:
1. Hughes
2. Rogers
3. Jaques
4. Warner
5. Michael Hussey
6. Quiney
Hughes has my vote as he has current form, runs on the board, youth and he has genuinly earnt his spot.
Rogers has current form, expierence without being too old but doesn't have quite the form of Hughes and isn't as long of a term prospect as Hughes.
Jaques is definatly a future opener but partnering one of the others on the list. He hasn't played cricket for a while and will need to play some cricket for NSW and make some runs before he plays again in the Australian side. Surely the Aussie selectors have learnt a lesson about playing injured, out of form or players coming back from injury.
Warner is brand new to the side and hasn't played any first class cricket for NSW yet. He is one of the most talented bats in Australia and has Classic Aussie opener written all over his game. Plays attacking, can play the new ball and genuine pace really well, sees the ball as good as anyone, can play all the shots and has heeps of ability. I would like to see him play a bit of First class cricket for NSW before he is selected for tests but he will play test cricket. I can see him in the Justin Langer mould but probably an even bigger hitter than him. It wont be long before he makes the test side and pushes really hard for selection. An attacking opener is definatly on the cards of the selectors now both Hayden and Langer are gone.
Michael Hussey might move up the oarder and open and a middle oarder batsmen might come in like Hodge or David Hussey, IMO this would be a bad move.
Quiney is a good player and started the season really well but at the moment is out of touch and doesn't have the form or stats of some of the others.
Honestly I can see Warner, Jaques and Hughes in the side at the one time in the future. It's only a matter of when.
