Who should be in the Aussie one day side?
How should we be looking to line up in the one day side? I just think its a good place for players to get a taste of international cricket before they play tests. That and we need to replace the older players and ready for the next world cup. I think we should go for a young squad.
1. M. Hayden - Jaques injured and no other opener looking suitable.
2. R. Quiney - Been in great form. Form player of the comp and an opener.
3. M. Clarke (c) - Time to start the hand over process, Ricky is too old and not performing consistantly.
4. M. Hussey (VC) - Class.
5. L. Ronchi + - big hitter, failing at domestic level as an opener, looked good in the west indies.
6. S. Watson
7. A. Symonds
8. M. Johnson - needs to work on his seam but needs to be played, big potential.
9. B. Casson - Need a front line spinner.
10. B. Hilfenhaus - Futuer test swing bowler, very skilled.
11. N. Bracken - one day superstar.
Hilfenhaus & Bracken to open bowling, both swinging it, Left and right arm (Both ways).
B. Hodge, D. Hussey, S. Marsh, B. Lee, S. Tait, A. Voges, J. Krejza, S. Clark, D. Bollinger, B. Haddin.
Plenty of rotation, and always play two swing bowlers (Hilfenhaus, Bracken, Bollinger) as we will need them in England to swing the Duke ball. We are also desperate for one in the test side. That and they are very dangerous especially in one dayers.
Ronchie has had a poor year but that is as an opener. Lee should be rested a lot and Tait played a fair bit. Casson and Krejza played, casson might be more economical.
Perhaps too many all rounders? Drop one for a batsman like Marsh perhaps.
Ponting looks almost done, didn't make runs last summer and is too old to play in the next W.C.
