They poached and in the end they did not want to go. What happen with the youth you had. Why would you want to get older players?

Quite simple my friend we were looking for one player to lead the youth and this guy fitted the bill perfectly as previosly stated this player has now retired. We have 5 or 6 quality young players coming on board this season and will more than likely field an A Turf side with the oldest player being 22. So we are sticking with our youth policy but if we find the right mature player to captain the club it can only benefit the players and the club.

I wouldn't call it poaching as where did this player come from before he played with ND? Answer West Newport.

Point 1 - Yes you are correct we haven't had alot of success lately our last first eleven flag was 5 years ago.

Point 2 - Our intent was to recruit one disgruntled player from ND who had announced his retirement and we offered him a senior role within our club.

Point 3 - Our recruiting has not been targeted at one club you will find we have picked players up for this season from district, sub district and the VTCA and no one to my knowledge from the Willy comp.

Point 4 - There wouldn't be a club in existance that hasn't recruited a player from another club.

Point 5 - Hasn't Welshy retired? I think the push to get Welshy out of retirement and come to us was from one of the ND players that was coming to West. l have known Welshy since he was 5 years old and had a casual chat with him and he informed me he had retired due to injury and l told him that if he had a change of mind and wanted to come to us he would be quite welcome. I WOULDN'T CALL THIS TRYING EXTREMELY HARD TO RECRUIT HIM. I hope Welshy decides to play again and it is at ND.

Point 6 - I am only worried about my club you are the one who is sticking your nose into our business and making ill informed comments.

Point 7 - The recruitment of the player from ND has fallen through and we have moved on as there is no point in crying over spilt milk l just wish you would do the same.

WRR

Just on ponit 3 of your statement. West Newport are well known for targeting a certain club for there recruiting, if i'm not mistaken I think they recruited 5 or 6 Maribynong players a few years ago and Maribynong (excuse my spelling if its incorrect) folded 4 months later.
I no that was 5 or 6 years ago ( around then anyway) so there is history of it.

I wouldn't call one instance a history of it as you might find in the case of the Maribynong players coming accross was due to alot of in fighting at Maribynong which split their club.

Hussler just to clear up a couple of comments you have made.

Point 2 - Your comments are completely wrong as at the start the player in question didn't want players following him as he did want to see ND gutted of players and l made a commitment to him that we would pursue anybody else from ND unless he wanted them at West.

Point 3 - Wrong again at the start your player wasn't even on our radar and we would have spoken to at least 6 players from clubs outside the Willy comp prior to talking to the ND player it just happened that l bumped into him at the A Turf grand final and was having a general chat when he mentioned he was retiring and was not happy with alot of things that were or more to the point were not happening at ND. From there we began discussions with him.

Point 5 - All the pressure on Welshy to come to West was made by the player who approached us to come back to West from ND it even got to the stage where l had to tell him to back off because it was getting out of hand and wasn't fair on Welshy. Of course if Welshy wanted to come to West for a change he would be quite welcome but at the end of the day l couldn't see him making the move after 20 odd years at ND hence why we did really chase him but he was made aware where he would fit into our structure if he wanted to come.

What are you talking about bud????In your original post I did highlight "DISGRUNTLED" & that, is what I called "not true"?????

Quite simple my friend we were looking for one player to lead the youth and this guy fitted the bill perfectly as previosly stated this player has now retired. So we are sticking with our youth policy but if we find the right mature player to captain the club it can only benefit the players and the club.

I wouldn't call it poaching as where did this player come from before he played with ND? Answer West Newport.

And before that????? Thats right folks "DIGMAN" 1990-93............

He only played 3 years 1994-97 at West,so its a bit hard to claim him as your own bro hahaha????

Thats good, but has this player coach before and do you think he could lead the young players the right way. Dont you think one of his other brother's is better for that job

Pop Gun you disappoint me l thought you we on the right track with promoting youth and installing discipline l can not see where "Beasty" would fit into this. Be careful as you don't want to lose your creditability amongst your players by having a different set of rules for one player.
