Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010
Agreed. The traditional PINT late run should be interesting to watch. Can they tip somebody out of the four, and if so, who will it be...
Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010
At 6/161 we were coasting and all was well. At 285 and Lavers sniffing 200, I was shitting myself. I guess Jason smelt it.
A soul lifting win, and the Coady Cup to us. Good preparation for the Tiger Den...
Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010
Thanks old mate. I agree with your odds and suggestions and the remainder of the season should be interesting to watch, (so long as you're not at Tahs anyway). This weekend, (Nightcliff v Village), should be a cracker and I reckon it could even play a...
Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010
Hey Jack, some interesting results on the weekend. As a bit of interest, what odds would you currently place on the clubs at this point in the season. I'm sure you know how to frame a market! You might even get some interest from keen punters!
Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010
Agree totally. Tiffen even managed to call Shane McDermott "Chris McDermott", (he played for the Crows didn't he?!). Lavers inning was one of the best I have seen and almost stole the Coady Cup singlehandedly for them. They talk up the TV v PINT clash...
Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010
Re the outfield - the grass is actually mowed shorter than it looks, but is very, very lush early in the season. We tried to drop the mower level down one more notch and it was hitting the ground and pulling clumps out.
It has already dried out...
Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010
We're still looking for locals good enough, don't worry about that. Crowey, Gav Lycett, Chris Campbell and Paul Carbone have been going well, and Stu Johnstone, Jas McKay and Shane McDermott are also loyal TVCC lads, but hardly qualify as juniors...
Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010
You know Pup - he's not that into fancy acronyms! We treat the finals as more of a tradition at the Village, not a KPI!
And I'm not sure how leading the club championship at the HALFWAY mark is "quite rewarding". You don't barrack for Collingwood...
Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010
Not a problem. Predictions are free, and as so many of us find out every week with footy tips, they're sadly not always accurate. No nuts out here at the Death Star, but stormtroopers have very big balls.
Final to be played between TV and Palm...
Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010
Correction to your stats. Whilst Cooper, Herd and Lycett all have 11 wickets so far, Greg Morgan has been recovering from a shoulder injury, has bowled lightly and only taken two wickets so far. The best is yet to come from Morgs.
Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010
Strangely enough, that's good to hear! I don't think anybody wants to see any clubs fold, no matter how much you may despise them! (Even Tahs!). A solid junior base is just so important so I fear Waratahs troubles run quite deep. Then again, weren't we...
Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010
We put a huge amount of effort into a T20 day at TVCC a couple of years ago, (special on ground marquees, music courtesy of Jack Flynn, giveaways, food etc), and virtually nobody turned up. It was widely promoted but sadly not widely supported. I'm not...
Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010
Spent a lot of money last year. Maybe this is one of the consequences of too many eggs in one basket? I hope you are watching Tigers! At least Tahs got a flag out of it, but at what cost?
As for their legitimacy in the comp - they've still got more...
Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010
Just to set the record straight, TVCC declined their draft pick as we did indeed want another bowler. We had also recruited well enough that we didn't need the extra player, nor did we wish to accept too many "imports" and deny our juniors a spot in the...
